Nationwide..Not Eligible for £100.00

If, like me you have been told you are not good enough to receive Nationwides £100.00 (35 years a flexaccount customer, 2 paid up NW mortgages) then i strongly urge you to write to them and make a complaint. Do jot do so on line as its too easy for them and cheaper. The address is
The Complaints Team
Nationwide
NE2020
Swindon
SN13 1NW

Include your acc details etc.

They are claiming on twitter that they consulted members about this eligibility criteria and this was the 'fairest' proposal. Utter nonsense.

I'm sure such a consultation would have gone noted here, unless the participants were subject to NDAs?

    I wasn't either - and am also a member - and also don't qualify.

Nationwide run a scheme where members can sign up and then get sent questionnaires on various topics. I suspect the purpose is that they can then claim to only be doing the will of their customers (despite only consulting a very small sample size).

We missed out too as we only have a Flexplus account, our mortgage was paid off years ago and never bothered saving with them as their rates were rubbish. Not impressed

One of Nationwide's tweets says you need two DD's going out of the account to be eligible.

    More nonsense.

It seems the criteria  for the new 0% Green Additional Borrowing misses out a lot of long term members as well

Nationwide do indeed have some rubbish savings rates but they also have a couple of lovely ones. The Start To Save account has been paying 5% since last June, and is now 5.25%. Plus it enters you into a prize draw. Granted, you cannot put more than £50 a month into it but the eligibility criteria for the £100 is a mere £100 in savings. Why should those who have this account, along with a qualifying current account, get the same reward as those who do not?

There have also been other Regular Savers over the years, with very competitive interest rates. And you can now have a 2 year member exclusive account with 4.75% - one of the very best in the market for bricks & mortar companies. Nobody forces you to put all of your life savings into that account but you are free to help yourself to this account with a small sum.

I wasn't consulted, I'm a flex account  member for nearly thirty years also mortgage for 20 years paid off 2 years ago. And not eligible because I've neither a Saving account or Mortgage for the required period Match 23.

Phoned them and lodge a complaint, should from complaints team within 5 workings.

If I don't I'll move to another bank for a cashback.
