Hi I bought a caravan awning from ebay £575. Didnt unpack it until we went away as its large so didnt see it had a broken zip until after the 30 day ebay limit. I paid via paypal. They said it was correct as zip and other faults and bits missing and that I had to return the awning to Ebay. They gave me the address for Ebay which was:-
Ebay Commerce Uk Ltd

DY12 1LF, postcode which was actually the address of West Mids Safari Park. I questioned it with them and they said it was to be sent to that address and postcode so I sent it. Low and behold it wasnt delivered as Ebay had no such address. As I was concerned I took insurance out on the package as it weighs approx 50kgs Paid nearly £80 for delivery. I get back to Paypal they then come back with what they say is the correct address and its actually London. I redirected the parcel and it has been rejected. UPS cant tell me why its rejected and I am waiting to hear what Paypal have to say as its being returned to me now. I am totally worn out by the whole thing (there has been a lot of tooing and froing with this parcel). I am wondering why its been rejected and what can I do as its travelled all over the show as I have questioned the addresses several time and UPS. can anyone advise me what to do as no one seems interested and ebay seem to just not want it back. I cant get my money back unless they sign for it . The address in London was an office??? Now UPS are returning it to me.

Do ebay now sell products themselves?
Surely it should have been returned to the seller.Life in the slow lane1 -
Ebay are a selling platform NOT the seller. The item should be returned to the seller for a refund via Ebay.0

OP, I assume you are new to ebay but as others have said ebay don't take returns, the seller needs to (where appropriate) it looks like the seller saw you were a newbie and unfortunately decided to mess around with you.
Whilst you were out of time for any ebay dispute you were in time for a paypal one, and whilst paypal disputes are not as cost effective, it still would have been better that doing a DIY return. On paypal if they had decided in your favour you would still have needed to return the item to the seller, but paypal would have confirmed an address for you. You would also have been covered if seller refused to accept the return at that address, as long as you had proof of attempted delivery.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. How old is the PayPal transaction you may still be able to claim via PayPal.
This is a reason why I always use PayPal to make payments via eBay - for the added level of protection....0 -
I have claimed via Paypal as the 30 days was up in Ebay. I made the claim Paypal agreed with me and told me to send to Ebay as Ebay are the ones that paypal are claiming against NOT the original seller. However Ebay have given the wrong address first time I sent the package, now the package is coming back as rejected at the 2nd address I have been sent for them. Package was well wrapped etc but very large as its an awning for a caravan. So now having wasted £80 P&P to return Im back to square one waiting to hear from Paypal as to why Ebay have rejected it as soon as it got there.0

Hi I now have another problem. As Ebay have rejected it for some reason my parcel has been taken by UPS back to Parcel Monkeys address in Portsmouth. They are now saying I have to pay £83 to get the parcel returned to me or they will dispose of it. Paypal are saying it will take a while to see what happens. I now have to pay the £80 to get it back I am up in arms here.I have told parcel Monkey (who hire UPS that it should have been returned to sender myself) not to themselves. Paypal know that I should have the money its just Ebay are messing around. I have sent proof of rejection and proof that the item isnt damaged. I am at a loss now incurring another £80 to get it back. I dont know where to start. I have called Paypal they say they have to wait until they hear from Ebay0

I have found someone who has paid for something on ebay using paypal, and they say it shows as going to ebay commerce not direct to a seller. If there is anyone else that can confirm this is the case (my last few months of purchases have all gone via credit card) then it looks like the paypal chargeback route might no longer be viable.
If ebay now take the payment making them the payee that means a 2nd bite at the cherry of getting refunds has gone. OP this might be something for the ebay community boards as if what I am seeing is right, this is a big change and I can't imagine you are the first to have been caught out.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I recently had to return a large item paid via PayPal. Seller not overly responsive but item was damaged so they grudgingly accepted it. They supplied a label for a courier. I repacked item better than they did….courier collected it. After 2 days, I rang ebay who confirmed tracking showed delivery & they initiated refund via PayPal. I had emails confirming refund to PayPal & do now have the money back.I think it does show something odd like eBay commerce rather than. A.N Other esquire as payee
In my PayPal activity info it shows as Ebay Commerce UKLtd.
Postage labels bought via PayPal show Ebay UK.Lurking in a galaxy far far away...0
