Seemed to get quite a lot done today although not much included actual housework.
- went to Mr S early to get friend's shopping. Had the trolley from hell with all wheels steering in different directions, I don't usually go there so it was hard finding anything (took conversations with 2 assistants to find custard tarts, eventually ending up with expensive French things called something else); then got the checkout machine which was in league with the trolley and required the assistant to put in her staff code after practically every item.
- went lake swimming to de-stress. Bliss.
- took food round to friend, intending to be fairly quick and ended up setting up her new phone which the man in the phone shop had supposedly set up for her - only nothing worked.
- dropped in at garden centre to pick up more grow bags and compost. The only peat-free they had was pricey and most of the bags were broken, so arrived home stressed again.
- had lunch and fell asleep in the conservatory.
- resignedly, Mr N and I went to another garden centre which has recently been taken over by a big company. Madness - they are rearranging everything so it is 'lifestyle'. Look, if I want a blue pot for a houseplant, I want to go to a 'pot' area not go to the blue curtains/cushions/dress/shelf/candles/ oh yes blue pots!!!! They have it set up like a maze so you have to go past everything in the shop, not just grab what you want then go to the checkout.....yes I know they think they will tempt you and sell more but I assure them (and will do so when I get the opportunity) that all it does is plan to avoid that garden centre next time. Oh and I wanted a plant. I knew its name; it begins with P. Previously this family-run centre arranged plants alphabetically so you could find them. Now they are arranged in styles/trendy/expensive ones at the front. So I asked an assistant. Give her credit; she knew exactly where they were and politely commiserated with me agreeing that people who knew their plants would want to find them alphabetically. "Some of them are sort of alphabetic but most people don't know what the plants are called". Huh. Anyway, the plants were outlandishly priced but the compost and grow bags were ok.
- Did loads in the garden. Making progress on the chaos that is an overcrowded greenhouse. Slow, but progress.
- Did a cooking frenzy and made a pizza for tonight, a rhubarb pudding which may do us 3 nights and some biscuits.
- Now writing a report.
Tomorrow is church (I'm on refreshments), more gardening, bit more report and drumming then getting ready for an outing on Monday. Our first outing on the motorbike for about 2yrs and we didn't do much the year before that owing to pandemic. Mr N is still doing well on his new RA meds and is confident enough so I had a trial run on the back yesterday (was most impressed I still fit my oversuit) when we visited a friend. Monday we are going to a lake just over an hour away (if you do the main roads - undoubtedly we will take the wiggly ones) to meet friends for a picnic.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.7 -

Very quiet this weekend! Hopefully that means everyone is enjoying the sunshine.
Friday night I only managed to hoover DD's room as the light was fading and she has set up her bedroom light to work with Google, only I couldn't get it to work, and the switch wouldn't work either so had an early night and slept well.
Yesterday was up and about early for a weekend and went into town to go to the bank. Got some household bits and pieces and small food shop on way back in Mr L. Really got too much to carry but managed to get back in one piece. The I had DS and DGS over for the rest of the afternoon. DGS is 3 now and so funny and intelligent too, has a great vocabulary and so we had wonderful conversations. Cooked chilli from scratch for dinner and had it with corn on the cob that needed eating and a rather lush bottle of red so was worth nothing after.
Today I have been over to check on mum and dad, they're both ok. Then picked up some bits in Mr A and back in to town for a load of tubs for the kitchen cupboards. Spent more than I wanted to but couldn't wait for the ones I wanted to come back in stock. Came back and have thrown a carrier back full of OOD stuff out. DH would have kept it as it was all dried stuff but lets face it if its more than 2 years out we aren't going to use it, and as some of it went back to 2008its all been flung. Need to go back as one of the lids is misshapen and could do with a few more middle sized ones (typical they weren't reduced when the others were) which is only a 10 min walk back so am off there shortly.
I then hope to clean DD's room which shouldn't take too long to wizz round, then cook roast pork dinner, have an early night as up early to collect her from airport.Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!7 -
