Broadband options for a home with no physical above ground phone line.

Hi, we have no above ground phone line entering the house.  Virgin have been our provider for broadband for a number of years but would like to review what options we have from other suppliers.  Are we stuck with Virgin or are there other suppliers who will/can provide broadband only with no phone line?

I don't know the type of broadband connection we have, whether it's cable broadband, full fibre or something else.  I assume cable.

Hope you can help.

Unless you live in Hull, you should be able to get a physical Openreach line installed by ordering broadband from a provider that uses their local loop infrastructure.

You can use the BT wholesale availability checker with your postcode to get an idea of what sort of connection would be available if you go this route.

Thanks but we were hoping that we wouldn't need to put back a landline.  The house hasn't had one since we moved in.

Then you're looking at 4G / 5G mobile broadband if you don't want a(nother) line coming to your house, though since you already have the VM line it's not clear what the problem with having a line is.

You already have a landline, one from Virgin.  A landline is just a physical connection whether it is used for voice calls, internet access, or both.  There is no requirement to ever plug a phone into one and use it for voice calls if all you want to use it for is internet access.

If you don't already have a line coming into the house (other than Virgin's own) don't they charge for installation?

Just had Cityfibre installed, broadband only, no installation costs.

It’s not clear what you are looking for. You have a line from Virgin, only Virgin can supply a service over that line. So you either need another line installed, from either Openreach or an Altnet (if you have an Altnet available to you) or you need to look 4g/5g as already suggested.
