Am hoping it appears tomorrow morning.1 -
Dunno what this 5% rate has got to be sooo interesting, I personally find far more appealing the new 3 and 4-year bond at 4.9 and 4.8 from HTB that are online with, yes, an 18-month 5.01% bond

Are you suggesting that the thread title should be "The arbitrary, meaningless, 5% barrier" perhaps?francoghezzi said:Dunno what this 5% rate has got to be sooo interesting

All depends on one’s circumstances.francoghezzi said:Dunno what this 5% rate has got to be sooo interesting, I personally find far more appealing the new 3 and 4-year bond at 4.9 and 4.8 from HTB that are online with, yes, an 18-month 5.01% bond
I already hold a three and a four year bond and am in the market for a 1 year/18 month or two year bond.1 -
I totally agree, nonetheless I don't understand all the interest in this forum about the 5% rate that was already reached 6 months ago. I have already a 4.9% bond on 3 years bought with Zopa in December and now am happy to have another one with the same interest before the rates start going down (at least they should, but who knows). If the inflation rate will start to drop next week this level will very soon be forgotten. If not I don't understand all the interest in another 0.10 or 0.20 more considering that on £1000 invested, they mean almost nothingVNX said:

Humbly suggesting that on £1000 invested a 0.10% more means (but I could be wrong) £1 more a year. It looks like a childish game to be top of the table. But rest assured I do like the thread title :-)eskbanker said:

I agree the difference between 4.8/4.9 and 5 is as good as nothing I think some see it as a physiological barrierfrancoghezzi said:
