If I open a savings/investment account that allows deposits by debit card I normally just deposit £1.01 from Natwest/RBS as an initial deposit, namely Skipton tracker accounts, trading 212 when I was referred to them for the free share and again (£50.01) with CMC invest.
I normally just do any spending on my credit cards so all of my round ups are engineered.
You do get quicker as you go along I've found since you inadvertently end up memorising your card details and NS&I login details etc.
After my recent experiences with LBG though I am now somewhat weary of going overboard with the £1.01 debit card deposits to myself. I still engineer a few here and there such as paying off one of my credit cards by 2 debit card deposits (one of which always ends in 1p) etc but I'm not as extreme as I once was.pecunianonolet said:Stargunner said:pecunianonolet said:Achieved it with both, Natwest and RBS, in around 5 weeks in December/Jan. Moved all out early April to put in an ISA. OH started 3 weeks ago (not as determined as I was to get my 99 transactions with each done a day) and is already at around 3.5k with each account. Only got blocked by Natwest or RMS, can't remember once or twice and a text to respond Y or N to autorise the payment so got it unblocked in under 30 sec. No blocking with Paypal for me and OH was asked to provide ID info to Paypal the other day but no blockage and all working fine. We might be lucky, i think others had problems.
Spread out the transactions over the day/ evening with both, don't do all in one sitting.
What concerns time and effort, if you sit at home and have to attend on average 1-2 hours of mandatory phone conferences a day adding zero value and you want to waste your time a bit better, you can make use of your phone during that time and use Paypal. It was winter and dark, grey and cold so totally worth it.Set up AutoFill
You can save your personal information or credit card number on your iPhone to speed up filling in online forms and making purchases.
Go to Settings
> Safari > AutoFill.
Do any of the following:
Set up contact info: Turn on Use Contact Info, tap My Info, then choose your contact card. The contact information from that card is entered when you tap AutoFill on webpages in Safari.
Set up credit card info: Turn on Credit Cards, tap Saved Credit Cards, then tap Add Credit Card. Enter your credit card information into the fields provided or tap Use Camera to enter the information without typing.

To make it even easier once the cards have been added you can go back into Safari settings and add your 3-digit CVV number(s).0

Apologies for digging up an old thread, but Natwest / RBS round ups have got interesting now that x5 is possible via the app - though it seems much slower than Chase and doesn't offer cash back.I'm tending to use it for small spends and to pay my PayPal credit account. How long are people now finding it is taking for the roundups to appear?3

Has anyone found that NatWest or PayPal have a huffy if you overdo this 1p payment trick? How many is too many? This is pretty much the only activity on both these accounts.0 -

I have just activated the x5 Round Up amount in the app.
Made a purchase on eBay this morning for £3.25. Going by previous experience, the Round Up will probably take place early next week, if not sooner.
My last debit card transaction on 22nd Jan (Wed) had the Round Up processed the day after on 23rd Jan (Thursday). It seems to depend on how quickly the initial card transaction is processed and how near to the weekend the transaction takes place.
None of my Round Ups have been processed over the weekend/bank holidays.

Oh wow, thank you for posting this information Fergie! I haven't seen it anywhere else. Maybe I should read the notifications that pop up on my phone...
I try not to do very small amounts like 1p, but the past couple of months I've realised that I can top up my daughter's school dinner money by £2.01 at a time (£2 is the minimum...), I tend to do it 5 times in quick succession in each week, so I at round up £9.90 a week... that will now be £24.75 and I did this weeks top ups yesterday so hopefully when they clear, the 5x will be applied. I had better make sure I have enough balance in the account, as it's not one I otherwise use every day! I've got to £3400 in the regular saver since opening it in Jan 2023 and I really just want to get it full so I can stop thinking about it!! I am also just feeling a tiny bit guilty that my top ups on the school app might be costing the school extra in card fees ... might have to look in a bit more depth whether that is the case, their budgets are tight enough as it is...0 -
Debit card purchase of £3.25 on Thursday was still showing as pending last night (Friday) but now shows as processed and cleared (Saturday). Subsequently, the 5x round up of £3.75 was credited to my Digital Regular Saver with yesterday as the posting date:

How do you actually activate the 5 x roundups?I have set up a Regular Saver but the current account only suggests single or double 'roundups'?Going online, the 'blurb' says that they can be multiplied x 1,2,3,4,5 but not HOW to set it up, other than via the App which does not show me this option? Thanks
