Achieved it with both, Natwest and RBS, in around 5 weeks in December/Jan. Moved all out early April to put in an ISA. OH started 3 weeks ago (not as determined as I was to get my 99 transactions with each done a day) and is already at around 3.5k with each account. Only got blocked by Natwest or RMS, can't remember once or twice and a text to respond Y or N to autorise the payment so got it unblocked in under 30 sec. No blocking with Paypal for me and OH was asked to provide ID info to Paypal the other day but no blockage and all working fine. We might be lucky, i think others had problems.

Spread out the transactions over the day/ evening with both, don't do all in one sitting.
That is a hell of a lot of time and effort to get 3 months worth of interest at a higher rate than if you had of left it in a easy access saver, to then transfer the whole lot out.
    That was my thought!

I only use my Natwest debit card when:
    1. The purchase won't qualify for Chase cashback (either it's <£1, I've already secured the £15 maximum cashback, or it's on their list of excluded items
    2. I don't need Section 75 cover (I'd use my credit card for that)
    3. I won't qualify for cashback on my credit card, or credit cards aren't accepted for that type of payment
    4. Paying for my car parking at work, because for some reason I can't add the Chase card to their app.

The only slight gaming of the system is that when I pay into my S&S ISA (which I do by card as I don't pay the same amount each month), I add 0.01p to the total (so £100.01 rather than £100). This generates a £1.98 roundup. I guess I could game this further by doing 2 x £50.01.

So far this month my roundups are about £20. This mainly comes from purchasing cups of tea at work (60p so generates an 80p roundup each time). My balance grows by about £180 - £200 per month (£150 standing order, approx £10 interest and the roundups). I'm happy enough with that.

I just pay the minimum payment on my Barclaycard off in increments of £1.01.  This is quite handy as it reduces the direct debit as well
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

I have done 396 £1.01 debit card deposits into an NS&I direct saver in a single day before, but now that we're entering summer I doubt the weather will be bad enough for long enough to justify doing that many in one go in my case.

If I open a savings/investment account that allows deposits by debit card I normally just deposit £1.01 from Natwest/RBS as an initial deposit, namely Skipton tracker accounts, trading 212 when I was referred to them for the free share and again (£50.01) with CMC invest.

I normally just do any spending on my credit cards so all of my round ups are engineered.

396 must have taken you at least 5hr.  Adds £784.08 to digital savers, that should generate an extra £4.03 per month at current rate. Can't do it now as quick because they start requesting approval for each payment.

It was initially not planned to take it out but since there were big market movements and other circumstances played a role too, it was in the end the better choice maximising returns.

What concerns time and effort, if you sit at home and have to attend on average 1-2 hours of mandatory phone conferences a day adding zero value and you want to waste your time a bit better, you can make use of your phone during that time and use Paypal. It was winter and dark, grey and cold so totally worth it.

Apologies for the late reply, I'd somehow missed the notification saying that you'd replied in this thread. It took around 5 hours on that occasion if my memory serves me well. I did about 5-6 on each card quite quickly without verification so that saved some time then just did about 30 on one card with verification, did a couple on each of the others without verification and went like that for a while. I let chrome save my card details on the browser on this occasion so all I had to type most of the time was the 3 digit code and £1.01.

You do get quicker as you go along I've found since you inadvertently end up memorising your card details and NS&I login details etc.

After my recent experiences with LBG though I am now somewhat weary of going overboard with the £1.01 debit card deposits to myself. I still engineer a few here and there such as paying off one of my credit cards by 2 debit card deposits (one of which always ends in 1p) etc but I'm not as extreme as I once was.

I can sympathise with that. I'm not a lover of winter by any stretch of the imagination and if it was June I would never have done that many debit card deposits in one go. In January though going for a day out on the coast becomes trickier due to the lack of daylight hours not to mention the fact that you can rarely go for a quick dip without being accused of insanity.

I didn’t know about that feature on chrome, it sounds much easier - I’ve been using safari and although I was copying and pasting the card number, I had to then type the CVV and selecting the expiry in the date picker each time. I’ll make sure to use chrome next time - thanks for pointing it out!

It is a lot quicker. If Natwest don't do any verifications you can do 4 debit card deposits per minute using this method. This is how I've managed to satisfy TSB's then 30 debit card deposits per month last year in under 10 minutes.

Is that with Apple Pay/apple wallet? I do use it for other things, but unfortunately NS&I doesn’t have it as an option
