No problem with emails and web access.

Just be advised if your DD was reduced for 6 months to take into account the £400 contribution you may need to manually adjust it back to avoid going into debt.
No problem with direct debit, it's working the same as always. They always get their money.

My yahoo.co.uk email account does not work on Sainsburys Energy since around February 2023 despite it working for every other account I use it for. I receive about 20 emails per day. It is my oldest and main email address. I recently added my gmail.com email address to my Sainsburys Energy account and straight away received a meter reading reminder. Shortly after I submitted the reading, I received the energy statement.

Curiously the last 2 EOn Next standard emails (Sainsburys energy being a front - so may use the same servers / IT patching etc etc) - made it to my email address - the latest just a few days ago.

As I have a couple of customer service items outstanding I didn't change my email address when I spotted it (after not getting my price change summary at the end of Mar) - as could simply log in and download important stuff anyway.

So my blocked email problem appears to have lasted around a month.

I received the meter reading reminder on the correct date but to my new gmail.com email address. This is good news as I did not receive the March or April reminder to my yahoo.co.uk email address.
When you change the email address on My Account you lose the history of emails sent to the previous address.

Today 17 May 2023,  I received my Sainsburys Energy bill/statement to my gmail.com email account. This shows there is a problem with the yahoo.co.uk email account and compatibility with Sainsburys Energy statements in PDF format. I have no idea how to investigate this.

Thanks for confirming this sort of problem arose - losing past correspondence.

Despite EOn customer services telling me it should be safe to change on the phone - decided to ask for confirmation in writing - unsurprisingly - the e-mail has not been answered.

As my other post above - the regular billing type emails have burst back into life - so glad decided not change - for now.

As I'm unhappy being forced to use a gmail email account instead of my yahoo email account that I use for everything I decided to post a review where it may be seen by someone who may help. The customer services were not interested in resolving this.

Yes - pretty much EOns position - cannot be their system causing the problem.

I too was told to switch to Gmail or Hotmail etc.

    I hope this helps someone.

Sainsburys Energy Complaints  investigated the problem and discovered that Yahoo had blocked their emails to me. I was unaware of any blocking and all other emails were not affected. They suggested that I set up a filter in Yahoo to divert all their emails to my Inbox (in Thunderbird). I did that and emails are now coming through instantly. Long may it last!

    This is what they said:
"if Yahoo has marked emails as spam a certain number of times, they'll automatically start to bounce on our end (being blacklisted)"

To be fair, Yahoo is an awful mail service and will randomly block stuff as spam. It's hardly the fault of Eon.

Amazed people still use Yahoo in 2023.

The message was posted to help others who were having difficulty receiving emails from Sainsburys Energy, not for sophisticated people like you. What email service do you use?

I have used a Yahoo mail account for about 25 years after I gave up on Hotmail. I have numerous accounts and personal contacts using Yahoo, nearly 400 in my password manager. This is the first time I have had a problem. I also use Gmail but the folders are more rigid for me to manage in my email client. I used GMX for a while but found it cumbersome. I have Outlook as well but rarely use it. The problems were with the emails sent from my account in Sainsburys Energy only. All EonNext customer service emails were received without hindrance.

The problem with both yahoo and anything Microsoft (Hotmail, outlook etc) is that they decide their own reputation of source emails, that is,  if they see a lot of emails come in from a remote mail server and the recipients don't open them or delete them without reading, they profile that source as likely being spam and simply reject the emails.

They are also pretty faceless and next to impossible to contact and escalate to get unblocked.  A right load of fun if you deliver stuff like e receipts, gift aid notifications etc. Honestly Yahoo and Microsoft simply shouldn't be allowed to run an email service.

I agree they are impossible to contact but in all the years I have had a Yahoo account I only needed to contact them when they had a problem with their system. That has not happened in recent years.

I open my emails daily and delete them when read. I received Sainsburys Energy emails since Sept 2021 until March 2023 without a glitch.  I have received Sainsburys (online shopping) emails for much longer than that so this blocking is puzzzling.

So you must use Gmail or snail mail or you are too ashamed to name your email provider.
