Why did you have to amend your insurance?
I thought you said you did not have insurance.0 -
Very wise of you to ignore previous posters who told you that you would lose your money if you did not have travel insurancejeff_chandler said:We had a result today. Contacted TUI and because we didn't book direct with them or or TUI online they didn't really want to know. They told me to go direct to the company we booked with which was Holidayhyprmarket,
I contacted them, explained the situation and was placed on hold. She came back and said they would amend the holiday. I was told the only loss would be the booking fee. I now have until October to re-book.

It was rash for anyone to state that definitively, and it would have been more accurate to say that it was unlikely that OP was contractually entitled to anything from TUI, but the fact that TUI were prepared to deal with the matter sympathetically still doesn't mean that they were obliged to....Jumblebumble said:

Correct, making an absolute pronouncement is premature, however the general advice is valid, - book travel insurance without delay once a holiday reservation is confirmed.Well done the OP for getting a result, and the forum member who flagged up Holiday Hypermarket's previous compassionate attitude.0
