Magnificent May's NSD Challenge!

Saver-upper said:I have found exactly the same thing cathybird. I have never been a big spender- I actually hate shopping, especially for clothes and shoes. And I hate having lots of clutter around the house ( being a home organiser has that affect.....). But somehow, the money drains away.
Since I started doing this challenge every month (I have previously dropped in and out over the years), I have started with the assumption that every day is an NSD. And I wait until I have a few things I need to buy, and get them all on the same day, which caused the number of NSDs I was getting each month to leap!! This thread certainly keeps me accountable- I am sure I would treat myself to coffee and cake, or brunch out, more often than I do, if I wasn't doing this challenge.KajiKita said:NSD today and yes @cathybird it is a completely different and really helpful mindset 😊
Yes exactly! I'm glad I'm not the only one1 -

I just wanted to say that one of the ways this challenge has really helped me, because I used to be very spendy back in the day, is that I think of pretty much every day as a no-spend day now, so my default is just that I'm not spending money, unless it's a designated day where I am, in which case I usually put through several things that have been waiting on a list. Whereas before, back in the day, I would have thought of pretty much every day as a spendy day, so it followed that I was always spending money without thinking too hard about it. I just don't think like that now. The default "not spending" mindset is automatic. It's good, it really helps with being frugal and keeping track of things.Do other people find that? x
Before I started doing these challenges, I found the idea of a day without spending to be impossible2 -
