Shawbrook bank - nominated account

Gosh, how I regret setting up a bond with Shawbrook.
Apparently after sending £3k to them I get a letter to say they cannot verify my nominated account. The letter asks me to send all manner of details, none of which I have or can get. Failure to provide this info (a cheque, a paying in slip, a paper bank statement and a debit card showing your sort code) will result in the money paid in to be returned. I called them to be told that they dont want any of this anymore and the letter is wrong and I need to do an Open banking access thing for them to electronically verify the account.
Has anyone had this happen and had the money returned from a fixed account due to being unable to verify the nominated account? Feel like just waiting at this point for my money to be returned to me. Isnt worth the hassle for the extra 1% interest tbh.

Didn’t have to have money returned but gave up on Shawbrook’s very clunky processes after a few months. I may be missing out on a bit of interest but feel less like throwing things across the room!1

Failure to verify the nominated bank account can be because:
- Your current account provider doesn't support the service
- Your account is very new
- Your account is very old
- The details you provided didn't match those of your nominated account
This isn't a Shawbrook specific situation; most financial institutions now verify the nominated bank account electronically and it isn't always successful.0 -
Thanks, I appreciate that but the things they ask for are ridiculous. Who has a cheque book? My bank card doesn't have the sort code so that means even if I had all those things I couldn't verify it without using the open banking thing. Has anyone ever used it? They mentioned following a link and then logging into my bank account and it giving them one time access. Not sure if that's standard but I don't like the sound of it.TiVo_Lad said:Failure to verify the nominated bank account can be because:- Your current account provider doesn't support the service

Have opened numerous accounts with SB (EA, and FRs mostly) and never had a problem with then or their service / response.Personal Responsibility - Sad but True

Apparently contrary to the letter and the advisor I spoke with they will not return my money so I have to verify it now or I can't get it back 🙄
I get a link for the online verification only for it to be expired, call for another, that's expired.. Literally wasted 45 mins or more today trying to get a link that works.
Now they tell me I need to go to the bank and get a bank statement.
Not feeling good things about shawbrook right now.0 -
