Reducing allocation of Nectar Points by the Daily Mail

  • In case anyone hasn't seen it on the other thread, this is the email they sent out yesterday.......

Since MyMail launched we have been delighted to reward our members with over £100 million through a combination of Nectar points, competition prizes and free rewards. However, our partnership with Nectar will close at the end of 2023.

As a result of this difficult decision, from Thursday 14 September we will no longer be awarding Nectar points just for entering Unique Numbers from the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday.

Whilst the number of Nectar points you collect each day may be small, we are aware how much you appreciate them so understand this news will be disappointing. The Nectar points you have collected and are currently in your account will be unaffected.

We know how much you enjoy reading the Mail and trust you will understand our decision to prioritise our investment into continuing to deliver world class journalism and content that you love at the most affordable cover price possible.

    Monthly Raffle

From 14 September, when you enter your Unique Number you can Spin the Golden Wheel to see how many Raffle Tickets you have collected for our Raffles. In the last few months MyMail members have won a £45,000 car, a £25,000 Garden Home and a £30,000 VIP luxury cruise. Our next Raffle starts on September 14 and we will have some amazing life changing prizes that must be won. Your Unique Number will also help you earn some great free rewards

  • Are any Mail subscribers experiencing reluctance by The Mail to add Spin the Wheel bonus points? This is supposed to happen automatically for May/June/July but in 2 months out of three since it began, my points have not been credited and I have been alleged to have provided an incorrect Nectar Account Number in both cases even though my Nectar card Number is attached to my account! We are now in September and my July points are still awaited despite my receiving an email on the 12th August saying that they have been credited! The Help Desk seemed helpful at first but are now not  responding to my emails.  Any similar experiences?

Well I think that's me done.  I was considering ending my subscription when they started this stupid Golden Wheel effectively reducing the daily allocation of points from 10 to as little as 2 per day.  If it wasn't for the 300/310 bonus points gained from May to August, I think I'd have gone long ago.

After 14 September, I think it's time to call it a day.

I wonder how many other subbies will decide to leave.

    Hi SpanishBlue,

It seems there's a bit extra to this.

Certainly this was nearly the last straw - I have even sent a message to the Daily Mail Subscription Office voicing my complete and utter disappointment and frustration at the way they keep moving the goal posts as far as Nectar are concerned.

It seems from a very reliable source, (I have learned this subsequent to seeing your post), that print subscribers will continue to be credited with 10 points per day till the end of November.

Yes, I don't understand what's going on either and if you phone up or email the Daily Mail, they either don't answer, (in the case of emails), or they haven't a clue.

I'm a bit out on a limb.  For some strange reason I am being left of the email mailing list for information like this, (which is quite important).  I would be totally in the dark about what is being sent out if it weren't for a friend on the forum.  That is, I am having to get all this information from a third party source.  I have tried and tried to talk to the Mail IT representatives and my own broadband provider but haven't got anywhere near to reaching a resolution.

Evidently the emails that I should be getting from the Daily Mail are being bounced back from my providers server.  My provider of course cannot explain this so they have asked for a copy of the bounce back reports, but the Daily Mail seem reluctant to help.  Meanwhile, I am "piggy in the middle".

All of my settings are set so that I should receive everything and I have checked my Spam and Junk folders and checked and double checked my safe senders and blocked senders lists.  I have even given them an alternative Gmail address in order to test with but I am getting nowhere.  I have done everything I can.  I just await the promised phone calls that never happen.

To be frank, I will be sort of glad when they finally cut the cord with Nectar.  I can then cancel my subscription and stop being concerned about it all.  I don't hold much with random prizes so the raffles really don't interest me.

But I am going to hold out till the end of November.  It means potentially another 910 Nectar points, which isn't to be sniffed at.
  • I also got an email from Nectar yesterday which said....

Here’s an important update from Nectar and The Mail on our partnership.

As of 17 September, you will no longer be able to enter your Unique Number into MyMail to receive Nectar points.

Don’t worry, there are still loads of ways you can get value from Nectar – including regular bonus offers in the Nectar app, Nectar Prices at Sainsbury’s*, and over 300 places you can collect points – including Argos, eBay and Esso**.

I haven't posted on this thread for a while.  Well, the Nectar Points are coming to an end apparently.  The mail still seem to be crediting paper copy subscribers with 70 points per week, (although None have been forthcoming since 13 December which was the last time anything appeared in my Nectar account from this organisation.

They have stated that they would be crediting till the end of the year so it appears they have broken their word.

We are now issued with pretty useless virtual raffle tickets for each spin of the Golden Wheel of Misfortune.  It is supposed to be random but it is quite obvious it is rigged.

Has anyone noticed any sluggishness with the Golden Wheel in the last week?

On 28 December I span the wheel twice, (as you do), and I got 2 on each spin.  The following day the same happened.  In fact every day since the 28 December, exactly the same has happened.  This displays to me that the wheel cannot be anything other than rigged.

10 spins on what is supposed to be a random wheel and I get 10 x 2.  I wish I was a mathematician.  I could work out the odds.

Are there any mathematicians out there who care to work out the odds of achieving each number?

For 3 days in a row now I have got the minimum 2 entries.
I too suspect it may be rigged.

They knew there was a problem.  I'd reported a day or so earlier.

I had seven 2s in a row before I got a 6.  The odds of a fair and functioning system giving this are 13,060,694,016 to 1.

When you compare that to the odds of winning the Euro Millions Lottery it leaves you speechless.

And yet they take their sweet time over fixing things.

I notified them twice of the situation.  On the second email I suggested that there was possibly a law or statute infringement, (which could involve the Gaming Commission).  I feel this is the only way you can get things done with these people.

There must be many of us out there who have experienced the same phenomena.

    Yes, I think it's rigged.

Is anyone having trouble adding their codes today? I've added codes for 2/1 and 3/1 but when I submit them it's just a blank pop up. If I try to enter them again is says I've already entered a code for that day, they aren't showing in my history either.
