Issues recently renewing my mums blue badge for her as council wanted copy of driving licence and passport, both long expired. Had to dig out her birth certificate; she’s 91 and visually impaired so this took some hunting down 😄
There was no other option available, even though it was a renewal and not an initial application.1 -

How is it that the Governments own web site states that many do and in the forthcoming elections our expired passports are acceptable. There was no other option available, even though it was a renewal and not an initial application.Just had that issue myself, their council only does the 40 plus page application each time.
They have no photo identification so Birth certificate it is.
Their expired passport is a stone tablet it that old.0 -
I had to take the same list of documents to the library for the UK Government older person’s bus pass, as I would need for a passport. I have been a member at the library for over 40 years. It should be accepted as photo I.D. for seniors.
One young idiot at the local Halifax insisted that I went home and got my driving license before he would allow me to transfer money from one account to another, both in my name. I had the letter from them and various other documents with my name and address. I could tell him what accounts I had, they even had my signature on record. I had been a customer at that branch for many years.
When I went back, he wasn’t happy with my pink paper driving licence.4 -

There was no other option available, even though it was a renewal and not an initial application.I actually checked which username posted this in case it was mine and I didn't remember posting it! Had to do the same last month for my 91 year old Mum whose passport and DL had expired.
Of course, if she wanted to prove her right to work in the UK (!) her expired passport would be accepted.0 -
The only photo ID I have is my bus pass. It has been accepted by solicitors and will be accepted for voting. I hope a bank would accept it but I won't hold my breath.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

There's lots (and lots and lots) about it to read here:
