Government Alarm sounded this morning - system hacked already?

One of mine did, an Oppo. I've absolutely no idea why this phone and none of the (Moto, Samsung) others.Sea_Shell said:Did anyone else have the alert read out to them in an American female accent?
I did.
I've not knowingly got any special feature activated on my phone (Moto G6).
DH cancelled his quickly so didn't get to hear the voice.1 -
My phone Moto G31 (Smarty) got the alert and as said above, was in a female American accent.
My wife's Moto G9 play (Three Paygo) didn't get either the siren nor the message.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Nope - there is no "Safety and Emergency" function. But "Notifications" has "Recently Sent" and under "More" there is "Wirelss emergency alerts" and under that there is nothing about History. Android developers need to learn a few lessons about common functionality across all implementations of their OS. They probably used to work for Microsoft.southone said:
If you have an Android phone, go into settings, click on "Safety and Emergency", then click on "Wireless Emergency Alerts", in that menu "Emergency Alert History" will show the message.

Alerts like this "should" be done as a type of broadcast message. It's not like the network has to send an individual text message to every phone. So the loading is much lower. However, all the pieces have to be in place across all network operators, MVNO's, govt servers, etc.born_again said:Got to love this. But this is the whole point of a "Trial" to find issues with the system, so it works, when needed👍
How many issues will be down to providers systems not being able to cope with the amount of these warnings.
Just like they had problems with texts over Christmas & new year... Their systems are not built to cope with the amount of usage in such a short period of time.
By the way mine arrived 6 minutes late, so if it were for a nuclear attack alert, I would have been toast.0
