Why wouldn't you be OK, what harm did you think the alert would cause?aardvaak said:I turned off at 14.59 a little late my OH's had already gone off early so I hope I am ok2 -
Bit of a non-event. I didn't see people running down the road screaming and crying. Bit disappointed really
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers1 -
There is already a post on Pepipoo from a motorist who heard the alert, picked up the phones as they "feared for their life" and got pulled by the plod.0

A mobile phone can still make emergency Calls (999 and 112) without a sim card so it can still communicate with the network.aardvaak said:flaneurs_lobster said:Semi-serious point, I'm guessing that the alert would activate on a 4/5G device regardless of the presence or not of a SIM?
How would it pick it up without a SIM?0 -

Both of ours went off together. (Same mobile network & tower as that is likely to make some difference). Message on mine states @ 14:59.
Stupid loud noise (slightly different between a Nokia and Samsung) plus the text box alert. Tapped <OK> to silence and the :censored: text box disappeared. Took me an age to find where in the phone it was stored in order it to read it properly.
IF that's how it's intended to work someone needs a good <insert your choice of punishment here>.0 -
My Brand New phone went off driving into town with very heavy traffic. Did not see any panics or accidents. Not paricularly loud but the real problem will be getting people to read the message0
