TalkTalk added some boost nonsense for calls when I neither use phones, nor did I ever request it?

Seen this before when signing up for my parents. They offer it as a free trial. You have to click on 'No thanks' to the offer.
You've clearly accepeted and not read your contract.
As pointed out, no point getting a CCJ over user error.

It is a very common offer from TT when taking out or renewing a contract, the Calls Boost is offered free for XX months which may be the same length as the main contract or sometimes 12 out of 18.

Many people are caught out in month XX+1 when the boost becomes chargeable as they have forgotten when the free period ends.

However, it looks like you did not fully read and understand what you signed up to and you could have removed the boost at any time prior to the end of the free period via your online account.

    It is not fraud.

You could make a formal complaint and if that is unresolved take it to CISAS/CEDR which is the resolution service that TT use.

You also need to check your bills. That is why they send them out. Had you noticed, you could have avoided the issue.

As ML & MSE like to say. No one else is checking the bills but you, so check & stop paying for things you do not need 👍

Since I started to check my card swipe receipts I'm well in profit.

The errors never seem to be in  my favour.

Companies are relying  on the customer  not checking.

  • It's not just 'annoying'... if only people stopped defending these clearly underhand methods then maybe they'd stop employing them! I left them soon after and now, guess what, they're crying over some other money they want to steal as well (but I'm sure they're utterly oblivious about the hundreds more they could have gotten if they weren't frauds, but hey, I guess they could keep being underhanded and losing money, and people around here could keep defending them, I guess...)

    I don't see anyone 'defending'.
Just pointing out where you went wrong.

  • Oh, people defended them and their right to use such underhanded methods... and the funny thing is that it's mostly just TT which used them, based on my experiences at least, and yet people defend this one corporation (whose CEO went on to steal millions in public money in later years, but hey, I guess she can be defended too, somehow...)

    No defending on this thread.
Please don't trot out that old chestnut 'you must work for them'.

Where did I say you work for them? I'm just saying that many of the prior posts seem to be defending them by blaming me... and just because corporations could, technically, steal money by betting on customers forgetting to check their accounts... doesn't mean it is just fine, and if everyone doesn't obsess on these technicalities then maybe consumer rights would truly exist...

    No one is stealing money.

It appears you failed to read the terms and conditions and are now upset by this and seeking someone to blame.
