in Water bills
I have recently discovered that for almost 2 years, Anglian Water have been charging me for someone else's water meter. They had put my neighbours serial number for there meter against my account and as a result I have been paying for next door's water all this time. They have now applied the correct serial number and re-billed me for the correct amount.
Can you advise if I am able to pursue a compensation claim for this? After speaking on the phone with the billing department they appear adamant that I cannot do this. However, I just want some advice as I feel completely wronged by them and this was there fault not mine.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Compo for what? What loss have you suffered, if you have been rebilled correctly?1

Your only grounds for complaint would be that you believed the bills and paid what you thought you owed. So, getting charged the additional amount is an unexpected burden on your finances.Their website tells you how to start a complaint and what to do if they don't resolve it. However, if you have now been charged correctly for the water you have used, I suspect they could easily dismiss it - all you could hope for is a goodwill gesture.

So they made a mistake, it's been rectified & corrected - what compensation do you think you should get?1
