FFHillbilly said:another phone call yesterday as I had heard nothing , this time the call handler said he was going to raise an urgent ticket and someone would call me back to resolve the issue. It's been over 6 weeks now...
interestingly when I searched online for the HSBC number, on their home page they have the results of a recent customer survey which shows them as 11th in GB.
doesn't seem like much of an advertising point to put on your website does it!?1 -
HSBC have been by far the worst bank to deal with in terms of switching.
In the past 10 months I've done various switches and the one to them was by far the longest taken before it was confirmed the account was opened. I've also got my wife on the switching now and she applied for an account on the 15th May and has had nothing other than the standard thanks for uploading ID etc and has had to chase several times (with the broken promise of call backs) until yesterday they eventually told her that the account is opened and card has been sent in the post.
The funny thing was they were that bad they told her that she was £000s overdrawn - which turned out to be the mortgage we have with them!
Can't wait until that £200 is in following the actual switch and then it'll be close down and move on to the next one!
Aim: Be mortgage free at 50 years old - TARGET HIT 12TH OCTOBER!!
Current Status: Turned 50 in May 2023 - PAID OFF IN OCTOBER SO TARGET HIT!!
Money made from Bank Switching in 2023: £1,775 (target £1,600) - TARGET HIT!!
Money made for Mrs B via Bank Switching in 2023: £1,275 (target £1,250) - TARGET HIT!!1 -
HSBC have always been slow, but once you have the account I have never had any issues. They are also picky, some people on here have told of being refused accounts, but you never get the full story. I certainly left and went back to them, it's the only bank account I have these days where I actually shook the hand of the bank manager when opening it!
I do find their CS staff sometimes do not know what they are doing. I phoned up one time to get my mortgage moved over to a different account, she had no clue.0 -
Hurrah my switch finally took place and now I just need to deposit £1500 and hopefully job done...only took almost 2 months!
What made me laugh is their boast that they were so confident my card would arrive in the post within 7 days that if it didn't they would give me £10, shame that promise doesn't apply to the account opening or I would probably be a millionaire by now!0 -
received a letter from HSBC today, they regret to inform me that the application recorded under my name has got decision obtained, whatever that means?
they say it was not fully completed at my end, but I called up twice and both times nobody mentioned the application was incomplete....
seems like it'll have to be next time they do the offer for me, even if I bother to resubmit they will just run the clock out till 3rd June and then open it on the 4th as soon as the offer ends!0 -
…and just under 3 months later after applying for the account the £200 incentive has been paid!! (Hopefully £40 Quidco to be paid out at some point too)In fairness I didn’t have to chase them up regarding the incentive payment, it was just the painfully slow opening of the account from their end that took forever and a day!1

My switch for the latest HSBC offer (ended 3 July) went perfectly smoothly and well within all promised time scales. I also had to call them on a related issue (previously had a current account and couldn't remember my username, which was still valid), had to wait less than a minute to get through and had my issue sorted during the call.1
