Think I’ve got slightly further than you in they’ve texted me (at 2am this morning no less!) with a reference number saying I need to upload proof of ID and address

The only issue is it’s the year 2023 so I don’t actually have any suitable paper copies of any documents on their proof of address list so need to visit a branch in person now to show them an online statement instead!

Can't you upload a pdf of a recent bank account statement?

I just notice this switching condition from 1st direct

"To get the £175 cash offer you need to open a 1st Account, switch
your everyday banking to us using the Current Account Switch Service and
pay in at least £1,000 within three months of opening the account.

    Step 1: Open an account

Switching your everyday banking to your new first direct account is
easy. Just tell us you’d like to switch to us, either when you apply for
your new account, or if your first direct Current Account is already
open, start a chat with us online via the App or Online Banking to set
the switch service in motion. To make sure you get to the right place,
type the words 'Switch my account' and then choose 'Account Switch' from
    the list of options."

It seems that you need to open a new 1st direct to qualify for switching incentive. I am not quite sure whether it Is possible to open the second one (new) to qualify for switching ?

Could anyone who already have an existing 1st direct share their experience please ? Thanks

Hi @adindas it would appear your out of luck on this one.

I heartily recommend becleverwithyourcash.com to get lots of useful advice and tips, here is the link for the First Direct switch 👉️ https://becleverwithyourcash.com/first-direct-bank-switch-offer/

Who can get the First Direct switching offer?

The offer is only available to new First Direct customers, so no luck if you are an existing or previous customer.

Confusingly the initial blurb seemed to suggest not but then the verification service said a PDF was acceptable (as long as it was a postal statement, but I'm not sure how they would tell the difference there!)

Either way I managed to generate a PDF statement with my address showing and some transactions from my Lloyds app then printed it out on some very high quality paper on a colour laser printer at work then just submitted some photos of that so we'll see if that passes the test or not I guess! :)

22 April at 8:13PM dealyboy Forumite 776 Posts No - if you opened an FD account prior to 1 January 2020 and not after
you will be fine, whether you have had one after 1 January 2020, or
indeed now, or not. In the case of an HSBC account just holding one
after 1 January 2020 will disqualify you.

    From the switch T&Cs ...
"You may hold a first direct current account and still qualify for this offer as long
as the current account was opened before 1 January 2020"
    .

I browse the whole thread it seems contradcitory with this ??

Does nyone who already hold 1st direct account before January 2020 might shed the light ??

What's contradictory? The HSBC conditions are clear that if you had/have a first direct account that was opened prior to Jan 2020 there is no problem getting the cashback. The only thing confusing is why you have put some First Direct terms in the thread that don't relate to the HSBC offer

I've gone for this in the end, moving switching my main account from Santander.

Annoying despite being approved when I applied and the debit card turning up, still no sign of the account being added to my online banking where my mortgage is. Hoping they haven't somehow setup a second profile... Guess I'll keep waiting to see what turns up in the post.
