Thanks
As long as the 'joint to sole' works in the application process, my opinion is you should expect to receive two incentives, one for each new account, one in your name and one in your wife's.0 -

I was hoping to switch the joint account to a new joint account but reading your response it sounds like the only option would be joint to solo, perhaps?0 -

I have a joint account. Can I switch my current account?A. Yes, as long as both parties agree to the switch and you are switching to another joint account. It is not possible to use the service to switch a joint account to a sole account.

I do wonder then if my original question is possible.0 -

I do wonder then if my original question is possible. If you open an eligible current account in joint names, and you and/or the other joint account holder meet the eligibility criteria set out in these Offer Terms, we will make one Offer Payment into that account. You and your joint account holder will not be entitled to more than one Offer Payment between you.https://www.hsbc.co.uk/content/dam/hsbc/gb/pdf/accounts/hsbc-200-cass-switcher-offer.pdf

and thanks @eskbanker ...
... so 'joint to joint' and 'sole to sole' is possible as is 'sole to joint' (specifically mentioned in the HSBC switch T&Cs). It would appear then that only one incentive would be payable ... unfortunately
From the T&Cs under The Offer Payment ...2. You and your joint account holder will not be entitled to more than one Offer Payment between you.
or your wife switches hers to a sole account and you find another sole account to switch, perhaps a donor/dummy as they call it.

Afternoon,Myself and my partner haven't opened 'sole' accounts with first direct since before 2020. But did open a joint account with first direct in 2021.It doesn't explicitly say, but I'm assuming opening an account is just that, sole or joint, and so we won't be eligible?I don't want to try now, and fail and wait 5 more years for new switch incentives we can use, when we could just ignore it this year, and maybe be eligible in 1-2 years.Competition Hobby start date 12/4/18

I've just applied and been told they need to do some 'important checks' which may take up to 10 days, assume I've been approved for the account though as presumably it would have declined otherwise at the stage after carrying out the credit checks0
