WiFi calling isn’t a perfect solution, a friend uses it with a newish iPhone and iD Mobile, there seems to be a long turnaround delay making interactive conversations awkward.

You might be better investigating another network for coverage with a PAYG SIM. My OH is with GiffGaff (O2 network) and I am with 1p Mobile (EE), she has coverage in more places than I do…

I use wifi calling with id mobile (and an android phone) and it works absolutely fine which is just as well as the signal is too weak inside the house for normal calls.

Absolutely no problems using WiFiCalling on iD Mobile with my 15 Pro Max. Crystal clear calls.

Something odd with your friends wifi calling by the sound of it. Shouldn't be any delay.
Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid

I moved home in February 23 and there was no phone signal

I changed to `Asda sim only with wifi calling, unlimited calls and texts plus 3GB data

Cost £5 month rolling contract and it is still £5 monthly
  • I've just been told by a Lebara agent that each network has it's own list of phones that it supports for wifi calling. At the present time their list for Google Pixels starts from the 6a.  I have a Pixel 3a and had changed from Vodafone (where I had wifi calling) to Lebara where it didn't work, I discovered.  Moneysaving expert could do with a more detailed note about checking the availability of wifi calling than just "To use it, you'll need a compatible phone, and most smartphones do" because wifi calling is essential for those of us without a mobile signal

My Moto G31 isn't on the list from Lebara, but using the tweaks I found on here, it now works!

The problem is that it is not as simple as that.  Previously myself and MrsM both had the same phone model EE branded and delivered in sealed EE boxes. Her Wifi calling worked and mine did not.  On investigation it seemed that only phones supplied by EE would work - hers was genuine EE stock but purchased from an Ebay reseller and mine was from Tesco.  Go figure.

Yep, had same. Identical Samsung phones, one direct from Samsung - no problems WiFi calling with several different carriers. One sourced from O2 - only worked with O2.

Difference was in the firmware, "Service provider software" in Samsung speak.
