WIFI calling when switching sim only provider

My wife and I both have sim only deals and we live in an area where signal is relatively poor.  She is with Vodafone and I am with BT Mobile.  We both have 3 year old (or thereabouts) Galaxy S10s which we are happy with.
My question: if we switch to another Sim only provider (e.g. Smarty or another), does anyone know if WIFI calling can be used on the new network with our current phones?  Both phones were originally supplied by the respective current sim providers, i.e. Vodafone and BT Mobile.  I was told anecdotally a few months back that WIFI calling won't work other than on the original network, but hopefully someone knowledgeable can help here.

Many thanks.

Wifi calling is enabled after 7 days

You can check which companies provide WiFi calling.

I moved to Lebara who use Vodafone and have no problem with WiFi calling
Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid

  • Both Smarty and Asda will let you activate a sim for £5 and both should have wi-fi calling for your S10's. Best to just try them out, there may be issues with the phone's firmware that restrict access.

You can check which mobiles are supported on, for example, ID mobile which has an extensive range. No need to have bought the phone from them.
A good source of info. about wifi calling availability is to be found at simsherpa.com

I've used an S10 on both Three and O2 and wifi calling worked on both.

Just be aware that with O2 you have to get them to enable the feature on your account but I did that via chat and it was up and running within 30 minutes.

You might have to go into Settings to enable wifi calling once the sim is installed, I can't remember if it was automatically set or not.

Good suggestion, my concern was precisely this, the phone's firmware being incompatible with a different provider.

I joined Lebara a few months ago.
They told me WiFi calling would work on my Moto G50 phone.
Despite hours of contact with them & dozens of screen shots WiFi calling still does not work.
    Really annoying.

1Pmobile gives you wifi calling.  It worked for me on a much older Samsung phone as soon as the sim was inserted.  This is a phone that both O2 and Sky Mobile had previously failed to get working with wifi calling, and it was a drop in the O2 signal at home that prompted the switch as my phone became unusable at home.

You can certainly check which providers provide WiFi calling to SOME phones, but not necessarily all. I switched to Lebara, who provide WiFi calling, on my Pixel 6. No WiFi calling. Support completely refused to engage with the issue and said it was an issue for Google to solve. Google, or course, said it was Lebara's problem. I have experienced the same with Spusu also. The only one I have found who supply WiFi calling with Pixels are GiffGaff. I would like to see MSEs SIM finder tool being a bit more thorough about this issue.
