Thank you for this, I have done some digging and found out who the owner of the land is, Stanborough Developments Ltd.

Should my next step be to complain to them? What should I include that will get them to cancel it
You could include what you put here 14 April at 4:19PM <<<<<LINK.  They are responsible for the actions of their agents and subcontractors and, if they MUST have parking control management (and I use that word advisedly) they MUST ensure that all their payment methods work.
  • This is what I have drafted so far, any suggestions?

    Good afternoon,

I wish to raise a complaint concerning a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) issued to me at Poole Quayside Car Park on the 4th February by Britannia Parking, a private parking company operating on the land of Stanborough Developments, i.e your land.

Firstly, I never actually received this PCN, it was sent to an old address, and Britannia Parking made no effort to attempt to find a more recent address, easily done via a soft credit check. Instead, they passed it straight on to their solicitor, BW Legal, who is now harassing me for a completely inflated charge of £170, presumably so they could squeeze more money out of me.

On the day in question, I attempted to pay for parking using a ticket machine, however this was having issues, which appears to be a pattern for countless other victims of these unfair PCNs at this car park. I can only assume this is intentional so as to catch as many people out as possible.

As the land owner you are responsible for the actions of your agents and subcontractors and must ensure that payment methods consistently work.

The signage at the car park is not clear, prominent or legible from all parking spaces and there is insufficient notice of the sum of the parking charge itself. This goes against the Protection of Freedoms Act (POFA) which requires that a driver is given adequate notice of the charge.

I request that this completely unfair and disproportionate charge be cancelled with immediate effect.

    Regards

You are writing a formal letter.

Suggest you start with Dear Sirs and end with Yours faithfully.

Thanks for suggestion, I've sent this off. Unfortunately the email address I found which was supposedly the director's bounced, and there are no others to be found, so I had to send this through their website contact form. Not feeling too hopeful.
  • Hi,

I have been reading the above thread as we have fallen into the same trap. We moved and forgot to update the V5C ( this has now been done ). The PCN was sent to the old address in April 2023, however, I have now received a letter from the Bailiffs  DCBL asking for a settlement of the PCN for £180.  We have spoken to the landlords who own the parking land and they have said that they cannot cancel the fine as the PCN was issues over 4 months ago.  We explained why the time had lapsed, since we were not aware, but they don't seem to help.

Please can someone advise and provide the links to the steps I need to follow to see if we can cancel this PCN.
The actual overstay based on the letter from DBCL is 13 mins, during when the store was not operative.

The parking if for 90 mins free and the vehicle was parked between 21:31 - 23:14 in the evening when the store is closed.

appreciate for any help on this.
    Thanks
    Kind Regards

£180 is odd.  Is that a typo?  Don't answer here please as this isn't your thread.  You could start your own thread if you are at a stage where you need help.

£170 is their usual money-grabbing threatogram.

You don't need a link because you already have two links (top & bottom of every forum page) taking you back in one click, to page one. My signature (below) explains which Announcement thread to read.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
