Just as a check - look at your gas meter  and look for the letters m3 and also note the serial number.  Is the same info on your bill ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

When the weather is half decent, read the gas meter and turn off the supply at the stopcock for a couple of days.
If you still have hot water and/or hot showers then you've found part of the problem !
Check that the meter reading hasn't changed before turning the gas back on.

    Got the pictures.
Here are the plugs on the wall upstairs, when i turn the far left switch off, the combi boiler downstairs turns off completely which means no heating or hot water of course..

Here is the tank, which actually was quite warm, and the metal circular heater on top was even hotter.

Above the plugs shown above, there is this Honeywell device. Again, when i turn the far left switch off, the combi boiler downstairs turns off but so does this honeywell device as well -

I flicked the far left switch off , and the boiler is now off -

    Any ideas anyone??

Ok, that left switch says "clock" and is connected to the timer (Honeywell device) It appears that the CH and HW are both set to off on that though.

  • The gas whilst a bit higher than the notional average at 15000kwh is only 3000kwh over that notional average. That will cost £1600 a year

The issue is the electricity usage at circa £3900 a year !

I don't think the OP has listed the electrical device in use, go room by room and don't leave out outbuildings/ponds and include how you cook gas or electric👍

On the boiler, is the left dial normally at the ON position or PREHEAT?

The second and third dials control the temperature of the water, 2nd to taps, 3rd in radiators. You would probably manage if they were both around "12 o'clock", the water would be cooler and the boiler wouldn't have to work so hard.

Can't quite see from your pic, what is the Logic boiler's model type?

It is always on the OFF and never on the preheat or ON.
If we turn the radiator ones to 12 oclock, our radiators not even picking any heat up, its almost pointless..

It is a Logic Combi 30 , been replaced to that one 6 years ago.

Jumping in on this... there's other things you can look at as well as trying to solve the puzzle of the hot water.

Eg - how many times a week are you using your washing machine?  Tumble dryer?

Oven vs microwave, slow cooker, airfryer...  how many times do you boil a kettle, and is it always full?

    It all adds up.

I recently got a new washing machine and it's actually using more electricity than my old one because its cold fill only and so has to warm the water every time.  My old (very old!) one was hot and cold fill.
I've stopped using a 60 degree wash for towels.  The rating given by the manufacturer is generally only for the economy program so can be misleading if you like a hotter wash.

I've also noticed a reduction in electricity usage by not having the TV on all day.  Would also reiterate that a high-end gaming computer system can add up to a fair bit when used a lot.  Every little helps :)
