How easy would it be to move a kitchen sink?

Looking at a house and there’s a couple of things we need in the kitchen, my OH needs a dishwasher which I’m not where it could go and we also need to move the sink from its current location to make it work for us.

Problem is the kitchen is very nice, cost a fortune and also has marble tiles throughout, would I need to rip the tiles up and would I be able to move a kitchen island down to make some space?

The layout and photos may help?

Any suggestions would be great.

I think that if you buy this house then you should live with the kitchen as is for at least twelve months to see what really causes you issues. If it does cause you problems you should be able to move cbinets to suit your lifesytle but you might need new worktops and tiling. Looking at the photographs the seller and estate agent would have tried to cover the cost of installation in the selling price so you might be better off looking for a property that needs a new kitchen otherwise you might be paying twice.

Thanks that’s great advice, my OH wants a dishwasher installing somehow, I’m struggling to work out where it would go atm.
The kitchen sink is in a weird place but it still has one so it’s not like it’s a massive inconvenience.

I am a bit surprised there isn't a dishwasher already - not hidden in a cupboard?
To move the sink you will of course need water and drainage - I think it would be pretty disturbing to the floor to get it to the island.
Which is correct - the image (showing one triple window) or the plan (showing two windows with a space between them? Because it would be pretty hard to move it to between two windows if you don't actually have the two windows... Is that a photograph or CGI?

Not very disturbing if it's a suspended floor with crawling space underneath. Unfortunately, this is pretty rare for both old houses (kitchens) and modern houses build on the cheap.

  • It definitely does not have a dishwasher, the owners do not like them, one of the cupboards could maybe be utilised for a dishwasher but again it would need plumbing in, still can’t see where the sink could be moved to without massive disruption to the kitchen and floor.
  • Wow. Thats a bold kitchen choice to not have a sink or dishwasher in there. Personally, I'd want both in that room. I like minimalism, but that's a step too far.

I suspect it will be expensive, but ask.the current owners, I'd imagine the kitchen that was in there before they installed this had a sink.

Where are other utilities - washing machine - as there will be plumbing there.  The other place you could possibly plumb relatively easily would be through the wall in the current pantry.

Agreed on that, the sink is off the side of the kitchen to the left of the windows, there is a washing machine next to the sink built in.

Yes could do that in the pantry but we were thinking to make that a cloakroom for some storage.

Really like the bungalow but the quirks in the kitchen is holding me back on making an offer as I think it will be very expensive to remodel on what we would need. I could live with the sink staying where it is but my OH wants a dishwasher in there somehow.

How easy would it be to install a dishwasher at the end wall unit of the kitchen near the window, reason is in the top half is the boiler and in the bottom unit there is just a built in bin that could be taken out if we could fit a dishwasher in there?

    What's outside these triple windows?
A possibility could be to take the H&C out the wall and - insulated - back through to serve the new sink under the windows. Should be relatively hideable at low level or even buried. The waste may have to ditto, unless the soil pipe already runs outside/under there. Would there then be room for a (slimline) D/W beside the W/M?

This is how the kitchen looked before they changed it.

So I’m guessing there would still be plumbing near the window, hence me thinking the bottom end unit near the window could maybe house a dishwasher and maybe have to take up some tiles around that area and have to refit them somehow once done.
