Looks like Ms Baggins had an erroneous flash. And How did you get on Lucifer (post #27)?

I want a car with swiveling number plates.
  • As everyone has said. You must be notified within 14 days counting the day after the event as day one. Here's an article on "Notice of Intended Prosecution" (NIP)

    http://www.lawontheweb.co.uk/crimertonip.htm

If they haven't notified you within 14 days then you can not be prosecuted for the alleged offence.

Also speedo errors tend to be greater at higher speeds. Typically at 30mph the error may only be 2 or 3 % over read. At 70mph it would be 7 or 8 %.

The flash given of a Gatos is very bright therefore and can temporary blind a driver for this reason they only take from behind!
I can highly recommend the snooper S5R as a great speed camera detector!

Just before xmas I watched a lunatic motorbiker head through a gatso. It was the type with markings on both sides of the road, but only a single camera on the right hand side.

Biker flew through the camera, must have been doing 50+ in a 30 zone and as expected the camera on the other side of the road flashed. I was celebrating his idiocy until OH pointed out that it wouldnt make a scrap of difference as motorbikes dont have plates on the front. :o

Bit of a flaw in that particular camera's design and location methinks.
  • Not 100% certain on this. BUT ... most cameras only work on vehicles moving away from the camera (not towards). The reason there are marks on both sides of the road, is so that they can detect the speed of a vehicle if it is overtaking.

    As I said I'm not 100% certain ... and I certainly aren't going to test my theory:rotfl:

I think he was out towards the middle of the road when it flashed him, there wasnt anything coming the other way so he certainly triggered it. But as you say, not a theory I want to test :D
