Usually the cameras are set at least 10% + 2mph. They will lower the threshold if there is no film in the camera.(".)0

the time frame is two weeks, if it arrives after that then ignore it.
no dont ignore it you could then be liable for a s172 offence, which is far greater than any speeding offence, you need to write stating thatDear Camera Partnership,
CVVVVVVVV - Notice of Intended Prosecution
I received your letter dated *********, the references for which are detailed above. I have enclosed a copy of the Notice sent to me recently, for ease of cross-reference.
You have written to me because I am the Registered Keeper of the vehicle mentioned in your Notice. My address is correct as per the details at DVLC, and the vehicle was not a Company car, and was neither hired nor borrowed.
No Officer spoke to me at the time of the alleged offence, and no accident took place. Also, no Police person has spoken with me at or near the time and place detailed in your Notice. The written Notice is the first indication from you of any intention to prosecute.
Your Notice details the alleged offence as VV:VVhrs on *********. The Notice is dated ********, and it came to me by post, received on ********. At the time of opening the mail item from you, I signed and dated the Notice in a space at the top of the page.
Including the day of the alleged offence, this was **th day from the date detailed in your Notice.
Following discussions with the RAC Legal Helpline, please note that the Notice cannot be acted upon as it is time-expired. For this Notice to have been valid, it ought to have been with me within 14 days of the alleged offence.
It was suggested I write back to you immediately with these comments.
Yours sincerely
VVVVVVVVV
Registered Keeper
then await their response, that is if you get one!!! They tend to hate it when things have time expired.0 -

Yes this I know for a fact as I have set off a camera a few times while travelling on the opposite side to the camera. Saying that I watch my speed more so now since I was caught 2 years ago doing 42 in a 30 :rolleyes:Friendship is like peeing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings

Depends what sort of camera it was. Gatso cameras, the ones with the rectangular flash and camera holes only take rear pictures and flash twice, so if it was one of them and you were going towards it or if it only flashed once your OK. If it was a Truvelo camera, the ones with a big and small round holes can be front or rear facing but normally front, usually take 1 picture and give a nice pink flash (some will tell you they have infra red flashees but this is not true). The expensive bit in speed cameras are the actual camera where as a dummy flash box is much cheaper so it could have been fitted with one of those and not an actual camera.
There are other types of scameras out there but these are the main 2.Nothing to see here, move along.0 -
gatsos can actually catch cars both ways, hence the lines being painted on both sides of the road, BUT gatsos are not licenced in the uk to do this so a gatso camera can only get you if its behind not in front of you under uk law.0

I've not got any points, nor have I been caught speeding.
I hear a lot though that people who are "just" over the limit, get invited to a speed awareness course instead of having the fine? I'm not sure if they have the points either way.
I don't know in what circumstances they do this, but I've heard a few radio presenters talking about it during their shows.0
