Ronseal 'Clear' Exterior Varnish. Doesn't Do What Is Says On The Tin At All!

All it has done is enhance the original colour of the wood which is dull on the untreated bits.
I wouldn't expect it to look any different.0 -
If you were just looking to protect the wood but leave it looking the same as before, would it not have been wood preservative that should have been used rather than varnish? It says gloss on the tin so it seems that is going to make it quite shiny and perhaps why it maybe looks a bit unnatural (although it looks fine to me).Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j2

If you don't like that finished effect, and as you can see above many people think that is fine, then you chose the wrong product.
You should have chosen Ronseal Crystal Clear Outdoor Varnish.
It says on the tin that it won’t yellow over time, it’s rainproof in just one hour and you don’t need to do too much prep. The tin says:- All the protection you need without the colour
- A clear finish to let natural wood shine through
- Rainproof in one hour so no need to worry about downpours
- Doesn’t yellow like traditional varnishes

Funny how the Ronseal Clear says the same thing!

Sadly read the reviews too late

I would have thought a wood preserver a better bet than varnish. Preserver will age better than varnish as well.0

The critical question was asked by powerful_Rogue earlier. Did the instructions suggest trying it on a small areas first, and did you adhere to all instructions?2

The instructions include:How to use Crystal Clear Outdoor Varnish
Application
As this varnish is clear, there’s no real need to test it on a patch but if you’d like to, you can.0 -

I don't think it looks that bad, can you post a better photo as the one in the opening post is more of the side rather than doors and windows? In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
To me, doesn't yellow applies to 'over time' as varnish did tend to yellow with age.
