Will it become a requirement to have EV charging points on new houses?

The council here have started installing overnight/slow charging points in the lamp posts, where requested by residents. My road of around 30 houses, the next but one road also has two. There are also faster charging points on every high street, even the tiny ones, and in every council-run, supermarket and big carpark. It's a fairly average area - some very wealthy, some very deprived and a lot of households that are neither! Most don't have parking.0

My local train station has a few “free” charging points. “Free” as in you only pay for parking.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. And how often would you need to charge?0 -
No - poorer people don't always drive to other places. They are like many of us who live & work locally, drive their kids to school, go to the supermarket which is nearby and, in our area, don't have charging points. There are no charging points at all in the poorer areas and no way to charge at home. No chargers at work either. Until there is very low cost charging available overnight (or all day depending on shift work) on the streets where people live an EV isn't a possibility.
You can't park your car even in supermarkets for the 6 - 7 hours that some people report are required to fully charge a vehicle so that's not an option - assuming there's even a spot available to use. Charging points in supermarkets are the new "blue badge" spots that some drivers will use no matter what as they are convenient rather than required.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. We’re thinking about buying a house locally, and one major concern is the lack of off street parking. There’s space in the garden to park, but I don’t think that we would get permission. We would not be allowed to just trail a lead across the pavement, so how would we charge an electric car is precisely the question we are racking our brains over.Chances are that we won’t buy, mainly because of this.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Most big supermarkets have a charging point now. Presumably "poor" people also use supermarkets?
I wouldn't mind taking an EV to Aldi but I'll be taking my electricity home in a Waitrose Bag for LifeFashion on the Ration

It seems small independent developments near me are including EV points, but not neccesarily the large ones built by national housebuilders. My Mum is buying a flat on a small estate of 32 properties (mix of 6 houses and 26 flats) and 11 have their own points, plus 2 attached to visitor's spots. Another of 8 houses has an EV on every plot.
