Will it become a requirement to have EV charging points on new houses?

I was looking at another thread and it occurred to me that, with the drive towards EVs, it will de-facto become necessary to have a place to charge our cars.
What are people going to do if they can't park their cars and charge them?

It already is, Building Regs Part S:
    https://www.planningportal.co.uk/applications/building-control-applications/building-control/approved-documents/part-s-infrastructure-for-charging-electric-vehicles/approved-document-s

However, many developers do the barest minimum - one of our friends bough a new build and the garage had an EV point which, under a fancy cover, was just a three-pin 13A plug socket.

I understand the rules are being updated so all new builds must have proper 7 kW EV point.

EDIT:  I have no idea how this works in an area like ours, where the Local Authority has deemed that all new build will only receive planning permission if designed to be "car free"

Either park and charge them somewhere else or switch to a different mode of transport.  I've already seen some estate agent listings that say a house has an EV charging point.

Go to the nearest charging station, there's bound to be a demand for them as there will be a lot of EV owners who don't have off road parking or live in flats where no possibility of a charging point
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

You didn't expect 2 different government departments to speak to each other, let alone set common guidelines that they boith agree on.

As stated above there will be nowhere to park the car but some building control busy body will still insist on an inaccessible EV charging point to be installed.

Charge them at one of the thousands of other places where they can do so. I'm not sure why people have got the idea that it's essential to charge your car at home. Obviously a huge proportion of homes don't even have a dedicated parking space, far less the ability to install a charger there.

Why I won't purcase a EV vehicle soon- no driveway.

They have a chage point near in a Mcdonalds car park - times I have been I see vehicles parked there and none are charging.

The cost of the vehicle is a factor too, if they are around £5000 and the size is similar to a Corsa.

Problem I see is that there are charging points available in the better parts of town and not the poorer ones.  The better parts of town tend to have off road parking as well while the poorer ones do not.  So once again the poor will need to pay more.  Not that they can afford EVs currently of course.

Presumably even the poor occasionally drive to other places though?

Most big supermarkets have a charging point now.

Presumably "poor" people also use supermarkets?
