I should haven't to say 'no' though, I've had my license since 1996, it's not as if I've only just passed. It has got to the stage where I just drive a few very short tried and tested routes. For many people the drive would be less than their daily commute across the towns, I am getting more and more 'boxed off' in where I drive. It's virtually the only time he goes that far for a night out each year and it is just mad that I can't just do it. Last Christmas I dropped him at a pub in a part of town I rarely go to which meant going along a quite long and busy road. It was really, really thick fog. I was petrified. I haven't driven on a motorway since......blimey.......1998..and that was very rare occurence and short journey........:o
I'm on PAYG car insurance with Norwich Union and my payment is between £12.40 and £12.50 each month - I do the same journeys, totalling around 130 miles a month.skint_spice wrote:Could you maybe try to get used to driving a wee bit further regularly and extend your comfort zone a bit at a time? Personally I hate motorways but unfortunately have to drive on them lots!
I've thought about doing that loads of times and each time thought - just can't do it. It's stupid though because at the same time in my head I think 'why can't I????' I've even driven a route in my head and extended it a bit each time and I still can't get in the car and do it
My head hurts now
just had a quick bath. I was going to treat myself to a chinese with him being out but I feel too tired to eat and my back teeth are killing me - I must have really clenched my teeth whilst driving!
Maybe I should make it a New Years Resolution to get some help, maybe some hypnosis.

don't blame you panicking about driving around Poole & Bournemouth, i grew up there but learnt to drive in Yorkshire, now i go there for holidays every couple of years and i hate it so much.
Unfortunately the only cure is to drive more.

Keren, I drive around 70 miles everyday and had to drive through the fog yesterday and I was terrified! (especially when going from slip road onto motorway -yikes!!!) you aren't alone but either the hypnosis or a few lessons with driving instructor may boost your confidence neither particularly MSE though...Mortgage OP 2025 £7550/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

I hate driving in the dark, especially reversing out of my street! It is really narrow with parked cars on both sides of the road! Awful. No choice though as there isn't enough room to do a 3 point turn when the street is full.Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015
