I wonder how many will be in sheer panic mode on 23rd April when the "Government's" emergency message is blasting out on their phones?
I suspect it will mostly be those who have been totally brainwashed by the MSM over the last three years.
And don't know how to switch off the function in the settings? Mine is, even the "earthquake alert"!

Thank you for this. I only pay sporadic attention to mainstream media and had missed the articles on this. I have now looked it up and put a reminder in our family calendar to try to prevent my daughter (who has only recently been allowed a mobile phone and is still getting used to it) from having a panic attack!

There is lots of informtion available as to how to disable the alerts - Android and IOS.
For those of us who wish to opt out, of course.
I wonder if there will be an increase in road accidents on the 23rd when people, who are unaware, receive some loud and constant neenaw, neenaw on their phone? Or however this thing will be audibly transmitted.

The Transport Museum sounds the old air raid siren in the Coventry at War display. Even with the knowledge that it is not real, it still causes a feeling of panic and a rapid heart rate.

The constant news about hospital problems and waiting times may well have stopped sick people from seeking help in time. Our local BBC news programme attacked Stafford Hospital at every opportunity, exaggerating even minor complaints with extremely biased reporting, and made a bad situation much worse.

The air raid siren used to be used to call the volunteer firemen to the fire station in our village when I was a child in the 1960s.

Yep. before the days of pagers.  Always remember it as my primary school was in the next road to the fire station.

It is still used here in Austria, along side a mobile phone alert for firemen actually. It is also part of a civil disaster warning system, a brief test is carried out at 12 noon every Saturday with a full range of tests carried out over a 2 hour period in October.

And I take it no one panics because it's engrained into life like the fireball test.

The thing with panic, a lot of the time those with that tendency almost seem to be looking for something to panic over. Just as everything these days is a crisis or emergency, just as certain people claim that they need something, unable to separate want and need, just as a growing number of people claim that external factors are to blame for the issue they caused themselves. The reason some people choose to panic is that they seem to almost enjoy it, they enjoy absolving themselves of responsibility for their actions, the excuse of a regression to a child like behaviour.

To panic about being shot at or a building one is in being on fire is unproductive but understandable, to panic that one's mobile phone makes an unknown noise or a message saying that the government is testing the emergency response system is ridiculous.

It's of course easy to pick people apart from a lofty position not understanding mental/abusive issues.

From what I have read you are fortunate(self made so please don't take that as a slur) but can sit from a position where perhaps you don't understand the full plight of what some are going through and the endless stream of bad financial news and no let you of one thing after another they are faces with.

However I agree in the main with what you are saying here just it can come off as a bit preachy and smug to those struggling.

I do hope those with a "secret" abuse phone have all the info they need to act on these alerts.

I have had my own struggles, I worked with a therapist for three years to examine and deal with some of the issues I have, I just do not let those issues define me.

I have done ok for myself, if I had applied myself more I could have done better, that is on me, the fact that I have done ok for myself is also on me. I have in the past been in a postion with zero assets, fairly large debts and an income that was lower than my outgoings. We all face stressors and difficult in life, how we deal with them is up to us, our actions define who we are and our actions are a choice.

The plus side is that those in abusive relationships will rarely leave their secret phone on all the time, thr domestic abuse charities have also been working to make people aware of the alert, how to turn the system off or for people to turn their phones off if they are in the position and that has also come up during news articles about the alerts which are being widely published ahead of the test. There is also the advantage that as all will go off pretty much simultaneously an additional one in a home may not be noticed even if the guidance is not followed. There will of course be some cases that it leads to discovery, that has been accepted by everyone involved as an inevitably and it is unfortunate. Though the difference is I was not talking about abuse victims hiding their second phones, but the people panicking because of a message on their normal phone that says "This is government test".

I switched off my emergency alerts as soon as I heard about this but surely if someone has a secret phone they can also do that or just switch it off a few minutes before the test and then back on again after the test has finished? Plus it can't be that secret if it's left on all the time and regularly needs charging.
