I don't give my number out in general only by e mailing the person concerned. Seems the quickest way to sort out collection rather than have to have stuff hanging around.
Are you in Lincolnshire ? I'm not far from Skegness
ah i'm in s!!!!horpe, opposite end of lincs
just checking as im after some fabric on freecycle0 -
Too far away then really. I'm certain I've got pieces of fabric I shan''t need......bits I've bought because I liked them..............lol Daft I know but there you are.........thats me in a weak moment (or several)
Having problems with freecycle at the minute........keep getting the regular e mails through but when I try to view the site I can't..............must have changed my Yahoo stuff endless times over the weekend and had to again today.............just can't seem to get on. Looks like I'll have to re-join all over again. Ex foster lad and his girlfriend desparately need a washing machine and I was going to put a 'wanted' on for them. In the end I went to the 'don'tdumpthat' site and put it on there. so fingers crossed.
Well off for some tele now that doesn't involve the wretched football :mad:Mary

Glad I did a bit of de-cluttering earlier in the year...........might be having an extra lad, younger than we normally take,(thinks hes older !) but same kind of problems so my works going to be cut out !
OH might be back at work within two weeks which is good news on the financial front.........but remains to be seem whether it happens or not............every week its 'be another two weeks' and so on. This time OH is determined to keep an eye on his boss (who's easily distracted to do other things than rebuild the workshop!) and generally nag now and then.
So, hopefully, then things will eventually get back on to some sort of level footing and I can start to clear my head of worries I can do nothing about (the rocking chair syndrome...............lol)
Have to speak to our young lad here when he comes home from work and ask why the duvet and pillow from the spare room were arranged like a 'second bed' on his bedroom floor  Who did he sneak in during the night I'm wondering ? He'll say no-one of course and waffle through some excuse/reason why he needed to have another bed area............kids !!
On the plus side I think, no confirmation yet, that he'll be able to stay on post 18........good news for him as he's no way ready for the outside world yet and good news for us as it'll stop us fretting about him.
So all in all, not a bad day..............got the washing dry before we had a shower of rain, just need to cheer OH up now..........he's starting to get very down not working for so long........thought he'd cheer up are the prospect of light at the end of the tunnel but the long face says otherwise.....maybe he's getting a bit too used to being at home.............oh eck......and what a thought ! When he's back at work I'll be on 'kitchen/domestic duty!! :eek:Mary

Making the most of some 'me' time today before 11 year old arrives tomorrow tea time to run amok !
As for our lad and his 'second bed on the floor'...........well he said he just felt like sleeping on the floorMind boggles !
School lunch hour and a very blonde girl knocks on the door asking where our lad might be.........'work' says I........'at least thats where he's supposed to be !'...........does he tell his girlfriends anything ? I say girlfriend(s) as there seem to be more than one that he's very hush hush about.
However............confirmation now in writing that post 18 stay is approved....pleased about that -and OH is wearing a smile today despite the fact that the wind yesterday battered his runner beans a bit.
Stuff to do today: (or should have been done by now) -
Ring friend to check when her hospital/operation is and see if I can go and see her tomorrow for a change of scenery
Try and ring elec/gas folk to sort out possible change of tariff -again !
Clear desk of assorted bits of paper before the cat makes a bed on there again
Sort out Christmas card -how many done and how many left to do (need to get at least one area of my life organised even if its non-urgent)
Saw a bit of a programme last night where wives were 'swapped'.......one very very organised to the point of OCD, the other just the opposite (thinks-which one was me?)
The 'organised' household was just that -everything labelled and 'just so'..........not sure I could live like that. But nor could I live like the other family...........somewhere inbetween would be reasonable.
Oh well..............one day...................Mary

Hello there,
Sounds like everyone is very busy at the moment.
I have been reading Ceriwen's blog - thanks Ceridwen, and following some of the links. I have now bookmarked it so I can find it again.
Mary 43
I understand totally about the organised househole bit. I keep reading (and aspiring to) the Perfect Housewife book and while some of it is interesting, it is just not happening for me either. I cannot live up to those standards.(stamps feet).
Good news about your foster children staying. Good luck with the new arrival.
Now I have a daft question which would simplify my life. I was going to post it as a Old Style question, but value the opinions of people here on Simplifying Life, and am fairly sure one of you will know the answer, so here goes:
I had a stock of peppercorns and had a cheap plastic jar from one of the supermarkets, which has now broken. It ground pepper quite coarsely which I like. I bought a replacement (more like a conventional peppermill) which grinds much more finely.
Question is - can you "set" the coarseness that a peppermill uses and if so how?
I know life is too short to worry about peppermills, but it is just one of those things which I am curious about.
Thanks very much
Greenshield:hello:0 -
Greenshield - just had a word with OH about your pepper mill (he's kitchen person)..........he says the little screw at the top of the pepper mill, the tighter you screw it the finer the pepper..........if you don't want it so fine, loosed the screw.........hope that makes sense -does depend on what sort of pepper mill you've got as well. Make sure you keep an eye on the bottom of the pepper mill (the metal part) so that it doesn't fall out if its unscrewed too much. Ours is a sort of conventional wooden one we bought about 27 years ago.
Hope that helps............worth a try anyway.
And its not an unimportant thing.........OH would be frantic if he couldn't have his black pepper...................lol
(Daren't possibly read anything like a 'perfect housewife' book..........all my inadequacies would come flooding back.....................lol I'll stick to watching it on the tele...........I can find it mildly amusing then and feel quite happy with my life and the organised chaos in it)Mary

Brilliant, Thanks Mary43 and Mary43 OH. Off to try it now.
Have just re-read my previous post, and realised I made a spelling mistake. Meant to say household and put househole by mistake!! Think that is my new name for the house on a bad day. (Like household and glory hole joined together).
Off to sort my peppermill. Thanks once again Mary43 and OH. Bye for now:hello:0 -

Trying to get my house in order and just looked at my desk  Folder with all the gas and elec stuff in (just phoned about fixed rates and got very confused.........lol), christmas cards I made this morning need putting away, a carrier bag (don't ask)...........and our lad went off to work this morning and left his phone behind...........don't know who keeps ringing him but it makes a horrendous noise (I think he calls it music!) and I can't for the love of me switch the **** thing off !!!
New lad arrives at 5pm...........bedroom all sorted, managed to find a tele that works for him and been offered a better one next week.
So far today my day has been anything but 'simplified' in any way..........
Right..........step one..............put new lot of paper for printing in appropriate drawer, put away gas and elec folder, christmas cards and get rid of carrier bag.................now I know why I couldnt find my book -hidden underneath.......................:rotfl:
It can only get better.................................:oMary

But at least you've made some Christmas cards Mary....some of us havent (hands up chez ceridwen - where I havent even registered that there will actually be a Christmas again this year - scheduled for 25 December the same as usual:cool: ).
Still on the organisational front me - now doing my "Grand Stock-Up" (my emergency preparedness thing) and realised this morning that having 3 different types of food - ie cans, packets and various other bits and bobs in 3 different cupboards - but the everyday carousel is all mixed-up - doesnt make much sense - sorta prompted by thinking what I could eat tonight based on my carousel of everyday food I'm using now - as the first thing I found was a packet of mini pizza base thingies and had to throw them out, as their expiry date was January this year - oh dear, that was £1.79 down the drain (being organic price level). Right - so thats an end to current food in the carousel and stock-up food in cupboards elsewhere.
Dont like those carousel things - they really are a pain and constantly falling apart to boot. When I redo my (literally falling apart) kitchen in time to come - I aint a gonna have one of them again.
So - it will be all food out of the various cupboards over the weekend and put some non-food things in that darn carousel and the food reorganised - so that everything, but everything, is in neat serried ranks in 3 different standard-type cupboards according to what category it comes into (am thinking "right - tins in one, packets in another, oddments in another). Note to self - must not waste any more food - must not waste any more food - must not waste any more food (and particularly when a high proportion of mine is at organic prices too!). So - I'll set myself a virtual 500 "lines" of "I will not waste food" (ooh...memories of those prefects back in my schooldays and being set hundreds of lines "I must not swear at prefects":D - well...they were ordering me out of a classroom at break time into a cold playground.....and then there was the not wearing my beret episode:D ).0
