Aril - beautiful quote as always and you've reminded me that the cupboard full of folders under the bookcase could do with a sort out !!! Forgotten whats in half of them...............nothing too important (I don't think) and some could probably be chucked I've had them so long.

No sorting out stuff today..........apart from trying to make a footpath in the spare room so I can get to the wardrobe that houses my 'overspill' of coats -do I need that many ? The rooms full of stuff for gift hampers (all charity shop finds in order to have very moneysaving presents for all) Trouble is, I know I'm saving money but I'm certainly not saving space and looking at it all I got my head in such a muddle as to who was having what. Sorted it now (I think) and promising myself to tidy desk drawers if I do nothing else.........oh and our kitchen table is now the hottest spot in the house for 'stuff'...........that could do with a clear up!

Big Bruvs photos now winging their way to his son -OH's posting them for me. I was going out, it was all nice and sunny and then the heavens opened.
So, maybe I'll give myself an outing tomorrow when I've had my back massage and pedicure....................:j

So do I Ellidee - I was so thrilled when OH gave me the voucher and planned to have something done every week from Christmas onwards till it was all used up and somehow just didn't feel in the mood for it at all. I couldn't work it out - I thought if I was feeling really down and glum I'd jump at the chance of being pampered but I didn't, then felt awful as OH had actually thought this out carefully for me.
So either I'm feeling better than I was or I'm doing it to pacify OH (he kept asking me when I was going).............maybe I'll know better after tomorrow......and then of course there's Saturday............!!:j

Pampering went well..............massage -brilliant ! Nails.........well it was nice to have someone else do them but I very quickly chipped the polish when I got home..............lol Still, they're ok and no great damage done.
OH says I look better in my face so it must have done some good............lol
Hasn't helped me with the de=cluttering though - crikey this is the third day I've done nothing !! Mind you I've great plans for clearing out my wardrobe so that must count doesn't it ???
Having done my little 'den' and feel so proud of it I want to carry on and on and on.............but energy levels dropped, 'stuff' got in the way as it does.
Oh and I still haven't done the kitchen table so there's todays and yesterdays newspaper, empty packet of anadins, three pens, place mats (are they from last night or ready for tonight ? ........oh the list seems endless.........oh eck, OH is washing the kitchen floor !!!!!!!!!!!!:T

Well....my personal little ruminations for the day on this theme...how many people/firms/governments favour the "ostrich approach" to life. I guess it's simplifying in a sense to face up to whatever-it-is and deal with it - so that is the approach I personally favour. But I do notice that there is a lot of pretending that a problem doesn't exist and maybe it will go away going on around me. But I guess "twas ever thus" for human nature. Personally - I go for the head-on approach - there IS a problem here, now what do we do about it?, all lateral thinking ideas also welcome. I guess it's the "light bulb moment" stuff idea from the "Debt Free Wannabee" Board. Many people/firms/governments would much rather not do this.

To me - it doesn't make sense to leave situations dragging on-and-on unresolved in any context - personal or otherwise. It simplifies things if they are sorted once and for all when they crop up. Such is life - oh well, I guess that's a bit of a "rant" for the day. LOL.

I suppose we all live our lives in different ways - and, in my own case personally, I tend to take the attitude that one might just as well "face up" to a situation sooner, rather than later - as it will just "stay there on the table" until faced and dealt with. Personally - I DO find it very difficult that it seems a high proportion of people/organisations/governments don't operate that way - as I tend to think "What is the point of the ostrich approach? Sooner one faces up to whatever - sooner its sorted, done and dusted and on to the next thing." But I guess that's a form of mental simplifying when I think about it.

It's not just mental ceridwen - heads buried in the sand prevent something from being done that should and ought to be dealt with, be it something to do with people and their jobs, housing situations, health..........I'm sure the list can be endless.
OH can be a bit of an ostrich at times and when we had our own business and it was obvious that things were not going to get better, OH carried on ignoring the money demands and other things connected with it. We almost lost out home due to it and I must have been a bit like that myself when I think about it. Talk about a rude awakening !! It taught me a lot of things particularly about dealing with the 'there and then'.........at that time.
So, now I do try to do that. It's not always easy, particularly at the moment with Mum and other things going on but it brought it home a little while back when a young lad we cared for had gone through severe hardship for a whole year and told no-one, resulting in a mental breakdown. Finances needed sorting as well as his health and bit by bit we dealt with them, crossing them off the list as they were done...........now he's well on the road to recovery and even though it's still me 'in control' of his paperwork as he still can't cpe with that, he now faces up to things and isn't afraid to speak out and ask for help if needed.

Working with him made me realise there were so many things in my own life that hadn't been ''dealt' with -pushed to the back of my mind but always lurking in the dark shadows.
Strange how it took another's misfortune to put my own life in perspective.
It wasn't the financial side - after nearly losing my home I'd learnt from that, but the mental and emotional side was the unseen problem.........stress the 'was'.

Won't go too much into the political side of things but I do feel there are a lot of 'men in suits' walking around with blinkers on

    Hi Mary

Thanks for casting a bit of perspective on the "ostrich tendency" from another direction. It helps to know my thinking is "going in the right direction" so to say:D

I can certainly see what you mean about the "rude awakening" - as your home could have been lost. I would have gone totally ballistic - that ceridwen temper again:rolleyes: .
You must have stayed a heck of a lot calmer than I would have done. "Men in suits" walking round with blinkers on - I won't go off into "politics" either - but I do know what you mean.

I think with organisations/governments there will always be some people who will see the "road ahead" clearly - but it's the "ostriches" and the ones pulling in different directions who tend to lead to chaos.

On a different tack - think I might possibly take a leaf out of your book on the personal pampering front - I've got the chance of a cheapie aromatherapy massage. The "little puritan" in me is thinking "It will still cost money - if not as much as normal - should be prudent" - but I'm feeling tempted. Debating on whether to look out the details.:D

ceridwen - go for it............have a good massage to give that 'feel good factor' we all need.

Wouldn't recoment the leg waxing though that I've just had,.........bit on the 'ouch !' side and my legs are spotty:eek:
Pedicure was good though.....................starting to wonder whether to go ahead with the lip waxing next week -will I end up walking home with spotty lip ????- can bear with the short sharp pain of eyebrow shaping and facial and hair do will be bliss................maybe I ought to stick to the things that make 'me' feel better.

Lovely sunny day but tomorrow rain is forecast........puts a damper on the local boot fair but on the positive side, stops me spending money on 'stuff' and will give me a chance to clear out my exploding wardrobe........even worse now as I tried to find something to wear this morning...............lol
(best not mention the heap of washing on the floor up there..........better still, I'll stick it the machine and get it hung out before we get any rain)
