No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries - April
Comments
-
Oooh, I should not have read this thread, quite a few products in recent comments have caught my eye
Cleansing bars for face - I might be living under a rock but I didn't know these existed! As for Beauty Pie, I had an annual membership and managed to buy NOTHING at all haha - at least I got a discount on the membership, I had some ridiculous amount like 3,000 pounds worth to get but the delivery costs put me off, and probably just as well. That way it cost me "just" the membership cost, and obviously I did not renew under the circumstances.
I have UU 20 items so far this year and further 59 are opened (tracking all in Excel!) but I am hopeful I will reach my target of 66 UUs this year, and maybe a few more. I have only had a few INs, I am not tempted to buy more at all because this is the year I can finally get my stash under control! As far as I remember, I only bought some deluxe size Medik8 intense retinoate in January and that's been it, really.
Went to Superdrug for the first time in ages and just bought painkillers, they are so cheap here in UK and am travelling to visit friends soon so always take some ibuprofen and paracetamol as presents
Just checked my UU list but no memorable items on it - I will re-purchase Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum cream, Dove original deo spray, Bioderma micellar water, Origins Checks & Balances cleanser. Did not enjoy Cerave Hydrating cleanser, I don't like cleansers that leave a film on my skin. Currently battling with Emma Hardie moringa light cleansing gel for the same reason, I find they need to be rubbed off with a flanel / towel afterwards (or is that the hydration they supposedly provide? either way, not a fan)
I had my first TA of the year, I don't like throwing things away but this was a Tret tube 6 months past Use By date, and I have many retinol / retinoid creams so I decided to chuck it.3 -
Two more UU to report:
Medik8 Calmwise Serum. WBA. On to the next bottle already.
Espa Lip Balm. WNBA. This was a proper LHJ, am glad it is done! Not buying unnecessary toiletries 2024 26/53 UU, 25 IN2 -
I know what you mean @Zuzi - I have to close my eyes sometimes and ignore the other products that people are listing so I'm not tempted!
Few more UU's from the weekend:
La Roche Posay Anthelios Dry Touch Gel Cream SPF 50+: I like this, have used a bunch up over the years as it sits nicely under makeup and absorbs well. Also really good in very hot climates too. However it's getting more expensive and as I'm at home most of the time, I'd rather buy this for the warmer weather and wear other SPF's the rest of the time. Have moved on to the Beauty of Joseon SPF 50+ which I had a sample of and liked before even though it's a bit more moisturising than the LRP one.
Etude House Pearl Sheet Mask: really liked this, left my skin feeling very hydrated and the mask really did fit my face well.
Marks & Spencer Apothecary Sleep Body Wash: this was part of a Christmas present and I used it as a bubble bath instead of a body wash. Really liked the scent and a little bit went a really long way. Have a few more Bayliss and Harding mini's to work through and then I'll be free of a stash of bubble bath.
Have a few IN's to report too (all from The Body Shop courtesy of two expiring £5 vouchers):
Avocado Lotion to Oil: did I need more body lotion? No. But I really liked the wild pine lotion to oil at Christmas so thought I'd get this one as a little treat
Japanese Camelia Cleansing Balm: this is a limited edition scent of the old faithful camomile cleansing butter and I'd heard mixed reviews on the scent. However on opening this, it smells exactly like Walt Disney World to me, specifically the scent of the Contemporary and Beach Club lobby's and Flight of Passage. Might have to try and pick more of these up just for the scent alone!
Peppermint Pumice Foot Scrub: staple product and will need a replacement soon
Pink Grapefruit Hand Cream: did I need more hand cream? No. But I wanted the free shipping and this meant I got another freebie of the mini camomile cleansing butter.
I also have a Stylevana order and a Charlotte Tilbury order arriving soon - I'm going through a bit of a stressful time and trying to cheer myself up with buying things I don't need. The credit card is cleared and going away now so I shouldn't be buying anymore things any time soon!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20175 -

Although this is a HG I do have others in my stash which I'll use instead. First up will be a sample of the Bare Minerals Phyto-Retinol (I think!) and I also have a small Origins one. Have replaced this in my PP list with M&S Pure PHA Toner. Not sure if I can finish this in April but if not it can roll over.I finished a few samples over the weekend:-Chloe Nomade Jasmine Intense. This was lovely.Sol de Jenaro body lotion - the pink one. Too expensive for me to purchase although if I saw it in a beauty box I'd be tempted to buy that to get this.Sol de Jenaro bum bum cream - don't get the hype. Was nice enough and I'd use if I was given it but would not seek to purchase.Following @dolly84's lead, I pulled out an old eyeshadow palette - Too Faced Natural Eyes. I had 5 pans left - the two nude shades (Nudie and Cashmere Bunny) and the three brown shades in the right hand row. I scraped out the two nude ones and mixed them together in a pot. I swatched the brown ones and compared them to the one I'm using in my brows at the moment. All three were sparkly which is a no-no for my brows and they had all lost their pigmentation so they are gone. Yay me!Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Vitamin B12 brightening face wash. It was a Korean brand that was for sale in our version of TK Maxx. It's spluttering so it's out. It was an adequate cleanser but left the basin skummy.
Overall not a fan. Just don't get the hype that Korean products had.
Weather's getting warmer, so the air won't be as dry, do looking for a different moisturizer in the stash.3 -
Some UUs from yday and today
- Simple Moisturising Facial Wash - travel size: Didn’t particularly like this for cleaning my face or cleaning my brushes/beauty blenders. All used up, am glad.
- Elf Jellypop Dew Primer: I liked this. At first I didn't, and then it grew on me. Not sure you can get this anymore, so trying the ELF Power Grip primer instead (the blue/green one).
- Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara Black: Don't like this one, it's waterproof and yet smudges under my eyes even when there is no rain/tears or anything. I used it up, but I hated it
Replacing it with my HG- Loreal Lash Paradise
- Pampers babywipes- Coconut Pure Protection: Had these at work for a quick swipe after walking in to freshen up- good, do the job. They have one of those clippy closes too, which I know is bad cos of the plastic, but they don’t dry out, so I like them for that!
- Mad About Skin - All Day Protection Antioxidant Cream (30ml): Use this daily as my last step before SPF. Is chock fulla antioxidants- Resveratrol, Pinus Pinaster Bark Extract (Pycnogenol), Ferulic Acid, Q10. It's very light, so doesn't make my skin greasy either. Have another in stash, immediately opened once this one finished.
- Haruharu WONDER - Black Rice Hyaluronic Toner: From my PP list- used this on my body as it was a bit too drying on my face, but then that could be because I accidentally bought the version with fragrance? Anyways, I am glad it's gone. WNBA. Tony Moly will be my body toner now as I don’t want to use that on my face either!
- Innisfree - Green Tea Seed Serum: From my PP list- also used up on body as too fragranced- WNBA.
- Sugarpill lipgloss in Swipe Left: This is goopy and thick and more like a liquid lipstick than a gloss, so I think that means it is probably past its best (it was bought in 2020). I also don’t like the colour, and rarely wear it as I have never liked the colour, so I am finally throwing this away. I dont even want to pan it!

Updated PP list for 2023- picked 23 for 23, so 8 down already!
- Haruharu WONDER - Black Rice Hyaluronic Toner- using as a body toner, v drying for my face.
- Simple Protect 'N' Glow Radiance Booster SPF30
- BIG Tresemme shampoo: a never ending storrrrrrrrr-orrry!
- Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum: not much left- if I make an effort I might finish it this month!
- No 7 Resurfacing Peel: I'm still too scared to use this, even on elbows and knees..... I may just bin it- 15% glycolic sounds like it will destroy me!
- The Body Shop: Vitamin E Skin Cooling Gel Mist: think this will be good in the spring/summer
- Tony Moly - The Chok Chok Green Tea Watery Skin toner- will replace Haruharu as my body toner once that one's finished. It's quite fragranced.
- The Body Shop- Aloe Calming Toner
- The Body Shop InstaGlow CC Cream
- Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Toner
- Jackie's Hen Do Lip Balm x 2
- Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Body Oil
- Elf Jelly Pop Glow Stick: nice but I've had it a while and it's a creamy stick, so should use it up
- LilyLolo Mineral Blush- Beach Babe: for some reason I ordered a few of these over time, clearly not realising I already owned it- *doh* and I don't love the colour that much, so would like at least one gone from my stash
- LilyLolo Mineral Blush- Goddess: a deeper more rusty rose red colour, doesn't hugely suit me.
- Benefit Gogo Tint: bright cherry lip n cheek tint. Might last a hundred years as you don't need much of it, and I can't see how much is in the bottle.
- Sugarpill liquid lipstick- in Trinket: keep thinking this is almost done. And then it isn't!

Sorry to spam you guys- I forgot to mention my INS I picked up on Monday!
- The Body Shop Banana hair mask: replacement for the Umberto one. I LOVE this hair mask, it smells so yummy, and leaves my hair feeling lovely and soft.
- L'Oreal Paris Lash Paradise Mascara Black Waterproof: HG, can't be using a crap one again as my only mascara! I'm going to alternate this one, and then on WFH days when I don't see anyone, I will use one of my freebie GWPs
- Barry M- Colour change lipstick in Unicorn: I missed having this, as I chucked my ancient one a while back, so I decided to replace it. Gives a nice pinky stain to the lips, lovely for spring/summer.
