Strange car situation.

There's no difficulty here.
She - as the new keeper - taxes her new car using the doc ref number on the V5C/2 new keeper slip that you - the former keeper - gave her.
(You can do that on her behalf)
When she tells DVLA she's exporting it, she'll get any unexpired tax back via a cheque posted to the address on her v5c, same as you will in the next week or two as the old keeper.

I called dvla and they said I did it the wrong way round. As a new log book was on its way, the one I had became invalid which is why I couldn't tax it online. Ended up paying for 6 months over the phone in the end just to get it done.Mildly_Miffed said:There's no difficulty here.

Cars in Australia are expensive. And I mean for your bog standard every day car, they're about double the price with high mileage. It's actually cheaper to pay the couple £k to import it than it is to buy one like it there.Herzlos said:Why are you going through all of the hassle of exporting a car to Australia? I'd initially assumed your friend was just going to drive it over to France or something.
It's going to cost a fortune to get there and import, and unless they've got an Australian presence too it's going to cost a fortune to maintain.0
