I'm with Eon.next and I pay on 5th of each month.  Eon.next have sent me an email saying that my April DD is going back up to what it was before the six months of £67 less than normal.

I wonder if it's only the very early in the month DD's that are remaining discounted.   Mine goes out on the 1st (unless it's a weekend), and is due to remain low, yours is the 5th and is reverting back.

    hmmm.

TBH i'm not sure there's any method in their madness.  ;)

How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

Well my £67/£66 credit is applied on 1st of each month (unless it's a weekend) from 6th October (okay, that one was later than the rest) and ending on 2nd March so I got the full £400.  My DD was reduced from 5th October to 5th March, so for 6 months.  That seems perfectly methodical to me!

Another Octopus customer here. When they said they would reduce DDs by EBSS payments, I simply increased mine to nullify the reduction to maximise cashback. During EBSS period I’ve claimed refunds over £550 and still have ample credit.
Email received 23 March re 1 April price increase also said due to my balance history, my DD will not be increased to reflect end of EBSS.
I will continue to claim refunds when I consider my credit balance to be excessive and appreciate Octopus allowing me this level of control.

My E.ON Next account is still showing the reduced DD amount as due for payment on 10th April. Like others I am expecting that to revert to the pre-EBSS amount before then, but I will go with the flow. My pre-EBSS amount was calculated on pre EPG tariff Next Online v15, and EPG has saved me about £200.

Octopus, my DD has increased by £67 on my dashboard but I reduced it to a token anount before to get cashback on card payments.  The automatic cashback ends but it turns out there's a way I still can get it, so I might just be putting the DD back down.

I'm with Octopus. I've been paying £170 via DD and then the £67 credited to my energy acocunt plus had summer credit already.   A while ago, Octopus emailed to say my payments would be automatically (thanks very much) be put up to £270 from 1st April.  So far, they still say they are collecting £170 in April.  I've ended up in debit by £27.99 after the March bill so haven't done too bad considering Dec, Jan and Feb bills were around or over £300.    I live in a old property but its wonderful in summer :-)

E.On have advised me that my DD will  change from May.  My DD is on the 5th of each month and my electricity is deducted from the balance on the 23rd of the month, yet they advise that the DD is changing from the 12th of April (so first new payment is May).

Interestingly, they have re-calculated my annual position, taken my current £730 balance into account and are reducing my DD from my current £150 down to £63.  Running this through a spreadsheet shows that if the prices remains as now and if my usage continues as now, then the new payment is correct and gives me a -£1 balance on the 1st April next year.  However, £63 sounds a bit low to me, so I will probably recalculate and increase that slightly to push the credit balance out by a few months.

Just recently moved away from the monthly fixed DD merry-go-round of constantly being in credit.

Combined with a relatively recent move to Octopus, we've now switched to variable DD payments - bye bye credit balances  ;)

It's taken over 20yrs to see the light  :D

With CI predicting a fall in July - won't that achieve the same thing- more credit for winter.

If you want to pay more, have you tried asking for a credit refund.

£750 could earn you a few pounds in interst etc over next few months.

I decided not worth the hassle though.

Last time I looked - prior to revised DD figures for April - as I was 2-3 m in credit - my account had been authorised for user refund - but didnt request it.  So new calc DD - appears c£5 credit in 12m..

    And hello higher winter bills.

And not everyone offers variable DD.

And one poster even said were told they would pay more due to some discount factor  ( not sure how that interacts with epg or Ofgem DD pricing).

Which for millions on fixed annual low incomes - helps them budget.

Yes if disciplined all can manage yourself - but if living on 10k a year on benefits or state pension etc - that can be a difficult ask - if winter bills 3-4x summer.
