EBSS Finished - April 23 Direct Debits - Have you been advised of yours?
We are with Eon. For us, they dealt with the EBSS, by reducing our DD by £66/£67 a month, but crediting the whole amount to our account.
We previously paid £160pm (overpaying). We're still on a fix, so our rates aren't changing just yet.
After applying the EBSS, they were collecting £93 by DD for the last 6 months (Oct-Mar)
These payments have obviously now finished, HOWEVER, they have just emailed to confirm (as they do every month) our next DD, but that they'll collect £93 on 3rd April.
I thought it would revert back to the £160 automatically?
This is probably going to cause confusion, not to mention some potential underpayment on peoples account.
What have others had from their suppliers?
I'm going to wait and see what actually happens, and what shows on the next bill, but this might mean that we'll have to manually request that our DD be raised back to it's pre EBSS amount.

How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

I'm with Sainsburys Energy, which is a white label for Eon Next, and have exactly the same as you. Almost identical figures, received the email today, had built my hopes up that there might be another £66 winging its way here!
I have quite a bit of credit, so underpaying for a month is no issue, other than the impact on my Santander 123 lite.
It's not impossible that the email is wrong and they go ahead and take £160.1 -
Currently with Octopus, wasn’t with them when the payments started so there wasn’t a DD for them to reduce at first. They automatically raised it by £67 for the April payment, but as they allow you to choose your own payment amount I had no issue undoing that change in about 30 seconds and re-setting it back to my preferred setting.
Eon are also quite happy to allow you to set your own DD amount through your online account (or they were when I was with them), it’s just a matter of repeating the process several times if you want to set it beyond their 10% adjustment limits.Moo…0 -
With EonNext - I noticed the planned DD hadn't gone back up after the last EBSS payment so I proactively went and increased my DD back to the previous value.
Edited to add: it did say on the portal that we didn't need to do anything and they'd increase the DD etc at the time I'm sure... but little trust on my part of them hence the above.Aim:12mth Emergency Fund -> £14264/£17076 (83%) Aim 2: Mortgage Overpayment -> Paused until other aim fulfilled.1 -
Many suppliers never reduced the direct debit, they paid the EBSS back into the bank account after the DD went through.
For people on variable DD or pay on receipt of the bill the EBSS was just deducted from the money owed.
So for the majority of people there will be no change to the DD.2 -

That's probably what will happen!!
Which is ok for those with enough headroom in their CA.How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)1 -
I'm with Octopus and mine is continuing at the same level it's been - £115 per month. The EBSS has been being paid into the energy account on top of the DD amount and this has left me in credit still currently in spite of only having started with them as a customer in October.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

My billing date is the 26th of the month, my monthly payment before the EBSS was £55 it's now £69.25 but I have just under £300 credit, it reduced the credit by £70 on the latest bill but will increase my credit to £290 on the 3rd April.
When I had the central heating on I was using around 31 kWh for heating the home for 8 hours.Someone please tell me what money is0 -
Seems like I'm not the only one this is happening to, as we've had a few threads now on this subject.
The reduced (by £67 still) DD is now showing as a pending payment on my Eon account, so that appears to be a done deal for this coming month.

I am with Octopus and my payments were reduced from £80 to £13.
The payments for April have increased back up to £80 again.
I am over £600 in credit, but my deal ends in May, so will keep it as it is for now and see what happens then1 -
I'm with Eon.next and I pay on 5th of each month. Eon.next have sent me an email saying that my April DD is going back up to what it was before the six months of £67 less than normal.Reed1
