Parking Fine - Letter of claim

The registered keeper has received a letter of claim for a parking fine received from ZZPS relating to parking in a carpark out of hours in a UK Parking Control Ltd carpark managed on behalf of KFC. Car was parked but not left unattended at 09.45 and no parking allowed before 10 am. Registered keeper has not acknowledged any correspondence and has now received a letter of claim from DCB Legal
The defence is that the signage was positioned to alert drivers of the parking conditions at an angle that could not be seen from the direction in which the car accessed the carpark which was vice a McDonalds drive thru. (photo available)
The driver did not leave the car as was waiting for passengers who were getting food from McDonalds so had no further opportunity to view signs positioned at the entrance of the carpark
Fine currently stands at £170 and no response has been made to the letter of claim yet.
Should a defence be entered, look to negotiate settlement or await court summons? If I await court summons will costs be added to the debt?

If you've only received an LoC, you cannot enter a Defence unless and until you receive an actual Claim.
You DO NOT pay anything. You are dealing with bottom-dwelling scammers, both UKPC and their lawyers, DCB Legal.
What you do is robustly defend any claim when it comes, using the advice on this forum and you can expect the Claim to eventually be discontinued.
Read, re-read and read again the Newbies/FAQ thread to understand the process and the steps involved. Also, have a read of this thread to see why the UKPC/DCB Legal collaboration ends in their discontinuance:DCB LEGAL RECORD OF PRIVATE PARKING COURT CLAIM DISCONTINUATIONS

You don't have a 'fine' at all and this is easy to defend if you get a court claim.
It is not a debt.
There are no high costs risked, nor CCJ as long as you follow our NEWBIES thread advice.
There will be no court 'summons'!
If the letter is from QDR and only offers 14 days to reply then it's not a real LBC (but you know that from reading the second post of the NEWBIES FAQS thread before posting).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Oh good. Missed that it was DCBLegal!
Should be a laugh once they file the claim, for the OP to see how long it takes them to discontinue after they fail to get the victim to agree to 'settlement'!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I have followed the advice in the Newbies section and have sent SAR to UKPC and notification of SAR to DCB - will update the feed when i receive a response0
-
UKPC have responded to the SAR and DCB have today acknowledged that I am contesting the date and have given me 30 days to pay as of today and will then issue proceedings0
-
Lovely. Bring it on!
Proceedings are what you what = a DCBLegal inevitable discontinuance in the end!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Are you saying that you have received a County Court Claim Form?
If so, what is the Issue Date on it?
If you have filed an Acknowledgment of Service, upon what date did you do that?
Your MCOL Claim History will have the definitive answer to that question.
