Can confirm the TSB method of opening new profiles then sometimes merging them is:
    1. a pain in the arris
    2. completely unavoidable when opening new accounts (except via branch, maybe?)
Pretty far from nefarious behaviour, in and of itself.

Finally my luck is beginning to turn in my favour. I switched my BOS donor account to Natwest with the switch completing a few days ago. I just checked my phone and discovered a text from Natwest saying they have given me £200 as a switching incentive, which is now in my current account. I am slightly flabberghasted considering that I've already received £150 from RBS last year as a switching incentive so shouldn't have been eligible for the Natwest £200.

What's even better is that my Lloyds account is scheduled to be switched to Ulster next month so I wonder if they'll give me £200 too?

They most certainly will give you another £200 and you could try your luck with RBS as well for another £200, although that might not get through.

I am not going to bother switching an account to RBS. At the moment I am switching out any LBG account that has received a payment from a non-LBG bank before and/or had a DD set up on it. The rest I shall let LBG close on 18th May.

I've already switched my BOS account that I was saving as a donor account to the Natwest account I had originally opened in January for the YouGov points because I can use it as a donor account in a few years.

I'm switching my oldest Halifax account to Metro as it had a few accounts linked to it so I wanted to ensure I don't have any payments bounced in the off chance I've forgotten to de-link one of my savings accounts from Halifax.

The other day I arranged for my Club Lloyds account to be switched to Ulster in May for the same reason as I switched my Halifax account to Metro, because I had a lot of nominated accounts linked to Lloyds so if I accidentally forget to change one of my nominated accounts from Lloyds I won't end up with bouncing payments.

I've also switched another account to Nationwide as I had previously arranged for the Cambridge BS your saver interest to be paid into it.

I certainly was not trying to take advantage of the Natwest group's switching incentives, indeed I was quite surprised when Natwest paid me £200 as I had assumed they wouldn't pay because I am ineligible, but at the same time I certainly won't be complaining if they want to pay me in error. Even then I can't imagine they will mind me switching a few accounts to Natwest group given that when you apply to switch an account to Natwest they explicitly mention that you can switch multiple accounts to them if you want.

    To provide some updates:

Received my DSAR paperwork today from Halifax. Was hoping for some more info. Noticed a few bits in my file:

    - Employment status: Not known --> I'm sure that this is a mandatory field during application
    - Date I became Customer: Apparently 01/04/2021 --> I joined Lloyds in Jan and Halifax was March this year. Never had any relationship with them before
    - Month and date moved to current address: 03/23 which is also false, I am at my address for 5.5 years now.

Other than that, not much new info from the DSAR. Quite a few codes in the contact notes but no explanation what they are as not mentioned in the several pages of abbreviations and codes they provide, which are not useful.

So by referencing this with CRA data it's 3 incorrect data entries alone. A Halifax complaint is in but no response yet. An Al Ryan complaint has also been raised because of CIFAS, no response yet either.

They're required to explain any coding they've used, so if you want to know then go back and ask them.

If you want any inaccurate data corrected, then again they're obliged to do this if you notify them....

I've got a 3in thick pile of DSARs from LBG. I've not got round to looking at them yet and likely won't till next month.

I don't know why you're still bothering with Al Rayan. They've only done a routine CIFAs search not a marker, which If I'm not mistaken won't affect any other accounts or even be visible to anyone but yourself, CIFAS and Al Rayan.
