I think Macrium Reflect is still free but its now a free 30 day trial

Which is fine for a one-off cloning exercise, but I have used the free version for years to do my daily backups to a NAS drive. It'll be a shame when I replace the system if I can no longer get the free version. Will have to look for a new free backup system.  :)

A lot of drives come with a free version of Acronis.  If your one did it works very well.

Macrium Reflect free version will still be supported for a few years. (Until April 2025 I think it is).

You can't download it from Macrium anymore.
You can still download it from other sites..

I've still got the free (version 8, Home) of Macrium.   If I accept their prompt/offer to upgrade it to Version 9, does that stop it being free ?

Err, sorry, having checked I mean I have Macrium version 7.3 Home (free). Does 'upgrading' to version 8 stop it being free?

I have installed upgrades to the free version as they have notified they are available and am currently on v8.0.7279. Still free and not a 30 day trial.

Not entirely sure seeing as it's v7.3, but I think that as long as you update within the app itself then you should be OK.
Whether it will go from 7 to 8 is another question, it might only update to the last v7 version?
But like I said above Reflect-8 Free can still be downloaded from 3rd party software sites, (google it), you just can't get it direct from Macrium anymore as they now only do a 30 day trial of the paid for versions.

For backup and cloning of drives, I've been a fan of and currently use Clonezilla (free/open source). Prior to that (years ago) I used to use Macrium Reflect, which was fine (for the most part).

So, is (the installer for) Macrium  v8.0.7167 the last (non-trial) freebie version ?  TIA

I have just bought a new SSD to replace an existing drive that CrystalDiskInfo says is failing but when I try to clone to the SSD it gets error 9 which appears to be because there are bad sectors on my old hard drive, any ideas how to get round this please?

EDIT: The actual error is 'Clone failed - Error 9 - Read failed - 23 - Data error (cyclic redundancy check'
