I have a Meaco "Low Energy" dehumidifier. I confess I haven't bothered to work out what the cost per hour (when used for clothes drying) comes to. Ditto when I leave the computers on sleep and hibernation respectively when not in use. If it's pennies then I'll donate them to the Octopus good causes box.
A bit random, but I've recently found out that dehumidifiers create more heat that any other electric heating devices (ignoring heat pumps).
Oddly enough, I posted something similar a month earlier:
Although I think the chances of reaching a COP of 2 are pretty low!
Probably only applies to refrigerant type dehumidifiers. I'm so sad I once spent time monitoring the input and output air temperature of my dehumidifier and then calculated the energy gain over the amount of leccy consumed. IIRC the gain wasn't much above the margin of error.
The physics ends up being the same regarding latent heat, but the heat output of a desiccant dehumidifier is much greater, so as a proportion of that, the latent heat recovered will be much smaller. The heat is most useful when the operating environment is cooler, which also tends to reduce the efficiency owing to less water vapour being available for condensation. In the winter I get better performance in terms of L/kWh from a desiccant type, but compressor type wipes the floor with it in the summer months.

I have a small desiccant machine for the unheated shed but a refrigerant one for indoors.

My average on Agile for December was 9.83p per unit plus the rather high standing charge which constitutes a third of my bill. That includes the 'dunkelflaut' period, which enhances my German vocabulary of words where we don't have a simple equivalent such as 'bergschrund', from my A level geography and schadenfreude which many of us enjoy!

So not too bad a rate and that's with no domestic battery although I do have an EV in which I do very low mileage at the moment.

I don't usually look at the price per kWh for the month because a few cheap days sways it so much (I may have taught about averages and their limitations in a former life) but mine was 11.4 p/kWh for 1-31 December, standing charge cost £1.56 more than the power. (no battery, EV or solar) Aiming for a duel fuel bill below £70/month all winter which so far I'm managing

If that’s true that would mean having to change supplier for gas as well as Electricity or could I just switch gas tariff to fixed or flexible and stay with Octopus?

Did this gets resolved?  Although I have asked to switch gas to fixed, it will be annoying to have to send them manual readings.

Seems to be I switched at the end of October to TE Lifestyle but kept my gas on Tracker with no problems. On Jan 1st I switched from Tracker to Dec 24 fixed again with no problems.

I think the only possible problem would be if the gas meter stopped communicating with the electric meter and Octopus could not reset as they don't have that kind of access to the electric meter which is now associated with Tomato who may or may not make the effort to fix it - I guess they would say they can't do anything with the gas meter as it is Octopus's problem.

They connect to the comms unit not the electric meter? They may be on top of each other and look connected, but they are separate things.
PPI success. Banding success. Double Dip PCN cancelled! South facing solar (Midlands) and battery. Savings Session supporter (is it worth it now!?)
