Gas is a physical product that is pumped through pipes and can be stored. Electricity is much harder and more expensive to store, so we need to have enough generating capacity to meet the highest expected need on any day. Therefore there is no 30 minute or one hour market for gas - it’s just a daily thing.Telegraph_Sam said:Is there an Agile for gas? I get the impression that Agile is electric only3 -

Yep, electricity is difficult to store - seems much easier to drive consumption by offering cheaper / expensive prices - and demand follows.Pat38493 said:

Oh come on sam, you could have posted it on the tracker thread.Telegraph_Sam said:I'm on Tracker gas but have never got around to working out the underlying mechanics. Obviously there is no half hourly pricing. Agile doesn't come into it. I guess that it is daily pricing like electric.
This thread has wandered off topic apologies. Can it be transferred to Tracker somehow?4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy0 -

Cloudy but not especially windy, so with relatively low demand I'd guess an average of 15p.1
