  • If Compare would show me the total costs for me (over the various time periods) under the two tariffs there wouldn't be a problem.  I got the impression from posts that there was a problem with Compare accommodating negative pricing which puts the system in question.

It does show the total costs.  In the section underneath the graph comparing the two tariffs.  Try it and you'll see.

Actually just looking now I was wrong, we don't need to do it manually, it shows the average unit cost for the time period in question for each of the two tariffs being compared.  I'll switch to my phone and edit in a screenshot, hang on …

Got the halogen heater on under my desk for half an hour at a total cost of 0.2p, extravagant I know!
  • So far, 36kwh used, costing 85p. No gas used and house is 22⁰

Tempted to leave some washing til tomorrow and chuck in a bedding/towel wash. Throw a gammon joint in the oven too, thick ham slices 😋

For me, this is the main draw of Agile; taking advantage of cheap slots to do things we wouldn't normally do if we were on tracker

I'm a low usage household,  but managed 7.5kWh for 4p.

Since joining Agile in November,  my average import price has been 11.6p/kWh.

Was on intelligent flux before that as I was generating twice my consumption on average, so worth being on a high export rate.
PPI success. Banding success. Double Dip PCN cancelled! South facing solar (Midlands) and battery. Savings Session supporter (is it worth it now!?)
  • We’re at 12.5kWh so far today for 31p - and the only gas used so far is for showers. Annoyingly the underfloor heating for the kitchen had its thermostat left slightly lower than it should so I'm thinking it was ticking in and out all night rather than just running solidly - the usage stats seem to support that too. I reckon I’ll stick the GCH on around lunchtime then light the fire late afternoon at which point thr heating will go back off again - and if predict is to be believed there may be more scope for mixing things up again tonight.

I think the second freezer is going to be turned on to chill down overnight anyway- we will definitely need it over the next week and it makes sense to choose a nice cheap point to turn it in!

Since moving to Agile we've had no problem moving usage away from 4-7pm - we used to cook before 7pm sometimes, now we don't; we don't boil a kettle during that time; we switch off the dehumidifier, etc. It's not a significant inconvenience.

I've just programmed the battery, immersion, electric heating, and am about to set the first load in the washing machine on delay which will finish before I go to bed and be moved to the dryer on delay. The next load of washing will then go in on delay. I've got some gammon to cook (thanks for the reminder @EssexHebridean) so I'll put that in one slow cooker on delay. I have two others, one of which can work off a time switch and another that will just need to go on when I go to bed. So a bit of prep to do, and I know that if I have to get up with the dog during the night I can probably switch a load of washing into the dryer.

Tomorrow will involve making mince pies and soup, so the timing is good.
