I would benefit from those Energy Period/s.
Wonder if it's possible to mix and match per day.
i.e. s it possible to select how many time slots per day 1-4

    e.g. Could I choose Period 1+2 or 1+3/4 etc...

There is already one fairly large supplier who does not support conventional E7 for new customers - smart or otherwise.
EDF claim many do not (and for those with less than 50,000 customers, there was no Ofgem requirement to - just as there is now no requirement to support E10 or other older such schemes for new customers - and at best weak support for existing)

Looks like Dimplex will be going out of business soon then

As I understand it in user mode the start and end times and the temperature are configurable for each slot of 4 slots on quantums.  And you can advance if in early or go out early etc

But there are a couple of other default patterns - home all day , out all day and an away etc

Have a look under "timer modes" for quantums in e.g.

Or looking to offer the advantages that others currently see on Smart from aggressive Time of Use tariffs like Octopus agile.
Although will wait until time prices stabilise to judge them fully.  Right now easy to win on average in a falling wholesale market against Ofgem price lagged pricing - last year when prices rising - it would have been the other way around.

And by linking with suppliers - offering homes a credible offer at a reasonable price - with no doubt some inherent guarantee of sufficient charge window (e.g. E7's 7 hours et) compared to say ASHP let alone GSHP "much higher prices, unsuitability for many flats etc"  at peak or standard rates but high COPs.
    ""=edit.

And with the move to BEV and GCH to heat pump - the old fixed time slots of the traditional E7 / E10 / THTC / Whitemeter etc - many no longer actually be the cheapest times.

32m cars - when half BEV - 16m - if each charge once per week on ave at same time on a home 7kW charger - 14GW - takes current night lows upto more like current 6pm demand levels etc..

    Hi

Hoping someone can help.  We had new storage heaters fitted yesterday. 1 in the living room (1.5KW) and 1 in the bedroom (1KW) we switched it on this morning for the first time at 5am. (economy 7 switched off at 8am) I've put a pic of what our smart meter says.  It didnt cost this much with the old ones! Im not sure whats going on or if we have done something / read it wrong.  Would appreciate any advice.  Just to add this is our tariff.
Electricity day unit rate: 41.14p per kWh
Electricity night unit rate: 21.39p per kWh
Daily standing charge: 47.66p per day

    Thank you :-)

who are you with?  my supplier shell says it cant cope with my peak/off peak as I have 2 meters, so i have to manually phone in every month as neither their web site or a smart meter will accept i have two rates/readings. ( and would only display one rate and usage - not really very smart then is it? )

The smart meter is the actual meter that measures consumption of energy.  You say you have two meters, I suspect if you have an IHD as in the picture it can only be paired with one electricity meter not two.  The IHD is NOT a smart meter.

Do you have two MPANs for your meters?

What is going to happen Post Eco7 Tarrifs which are to be phased out according to checkatrade, after Fossil Fuels re no more.

    thanks
Did Checkatrade just make this up or do they have actual sources for this statement?
Only towards 2030, though guess it's wait and see what happens.
Hopefully user's can help with above quantum questions as my 2-3kw fan heater has lasted though no where near as warm from level1 anymore and expensive if selecting level 2, that type of heat drops instantly when switched off.

    thanks

And the killer - the fan heater uses peak rate if on economy seven.

Quantums and Elnurs HHRs are not cheap - even the small ones - but they will try to maximise any daily use - even a few hours late at night - into their off-peak charge.

But their output power - isn't the same as a 2kW fan heater.   But after a few hours - fan heaters are heating the space anyway - just you first. So may need to be on for longer.

Many end up running higher heat - as like that fan "heat rush" feeling - so keep a higher setting than needed - according to some reports. Like the guy in the BBC sounds article re heater types.

In end - if heating the space - its a kW for kW thing - the NSH just does it from stored energy at cheap rate.

So obviously the savings depend if you are on E7, on aggressiveness of E7 split - like EDF EM 55/7 or a flatter one 45/18 etc.

Confused - do you mean meter or IHD ?

A smart meter would know both rates and both time slots usage if it was feeding both circuits. IHD less convinced
My Smets1 certainly doesn't - and I only have the one E10 meter - only the total for electric - and the total for gas - which I dont have. But I do and so you could calculate say daily / weekly split from the totals and prices it does show.

Does a modern Smets 2 E7/E10 single meter's IHD - display the individual day and night units - on some menu ?

Is one of your meter's Smart and the other digital / analogue - or you just don't want smart as it wont tell you via IHD ?
Have you been told you cannot have just one meter fitted - to handle both circuits ?

If you have two electric meters
    - that sounds possibly like an old split supply system like my old heatwise radio switched set-up - one for normal circuits and peak rate - and one for off peak circuits for hot water and NSH and charging off-peak rates.
Or is more complex than that ?

My old twin meter heatwise went E10 digital and then E10 smart single meter.

If you have 2 meters, do you have 2 MPAN's on bills and 2 standing charges ?
Read reports of people having issues switching in past - even trying to go E7 --> SR etc with 2 (or 1 on bills but national database says 2) with some suppliers on posts here.

We are with EDF, it doesn’t actually give separate displays for E7 and Day rate but just a total used with the two combined.

My Fan pretend flame 'Fire', is connected to standard electric 24/7.
Though I have separate E7 socket not in use, which I hope can be used for Dimplex Quantum -Electrician can advise pre purchase.
I'll be following OP's Cost experience if they Manage to post update after a few days etc.

    thanks
