My local council (North Kesteven District Council) made the AFP payment to me as soon as they received notification from BEIS. In fact, I got the payment even before I had received notification from BEIS that I was going to get it.It sounds like this is a local issue with some councils being much better than others at dealing with this kind of admin. Without making any point whatsoever in relation to who you should vote for, I would say that this does highlight the importance of engaging with local politics and using your vote tomorrow (if you have one) accordingly......0

I hope nobody's running their main heating by buying their wood in 30l nets. Prices vary hugely around the country but currently our nearest producer wants £70 per cu.m.kar999 said:
A net of hardwood kiln dried logs was £3.49 now £6 99. Obviously cheaper in bulk but still much higher due to kiln costs.
Paying extra for kiln dried firewood is just throwing money away.0 -
I was just using nets as a benchmark for increases in price.Qyburn said:

I usually buy flatbed loads depending on soft/hard/mixed requirements so price increase comparison is more difficult.

I suggest you read other threads on AF payments to see the difficulty some of us have had with LAs. I was paid last week only because I refused to let our council get away with non payment.y-o-r-k-y said:

It's a poor benchmark for real firewood prices for a number of reasons. Mainly as i say because nobody seriously heats buying in that form. Also because prices for nets are all over the place, I could point to retailers whose prices are lower than a year ago, and others where prices are pretty much the same. It's more like a leasure market than a real commodity. Production costs around £1.70 per net, excluding cost for the source timber, and retailers normally want 100% mark up, so anyone selling at £3.49 was doing so more as a novelty or loss leader than a serious product line.kar999 said:
