Water sits in my washer dryer drum

I've got an AEG washer dryer and I've found that water sometimes sits in my drum. The issue is intermittant. For example, I saw that there was water in the drum one day and so I did an extra spin/drain cycle and that removed the water. However, the next day, there was some water again. However, currently the drum is empty and has been for a few days.
Every so often when I clean the pump filter, I notice these small white plastic like pieces. Any ideas what they are and how they're getting there?

Also, would this be causing the sitting water or do you have any other ideas on what could be causing this and how to resolve it?

When this happens it is either the pump is faulty ( in which case it never drains ) or is getting blocked, which looks more likely from your pic.
Not sure what the bits are though, have a good feel around the rubber seal by the door and see if there are any there as well. With a washing machine, you basically have the drum, and this will drain via a hose straight into the pump, which then pumps out via the hose into the drains, so there isn't really anywhere bits could be getting in other than from clothes, or if the pump is disintegrating.
Do you check all pockets of clothes before putting them in? it may be something as simple as that, other than that replace the pump ( they are pretty cheap ) as that would be the other culprit1 -

Yes, I tend to check my pockets and I've already replaced the pump. Could there be an issue with the hoses? Even though I haven't really moved the machine.

I can't think of anything other than the pump inside the machine that could create the lumps you have shown, unless it was something left in the machine from manufacture or something like that?0 -
Does your washing machine drain pipe connect into a pipe that also connects to a sink? Mine used to fill with water as some idiot (me) had the drain pipe going up to a connecter instead of down so water was coming out of the sink and back into the machine through the drain hose...

I haven't pulled out the washing machine yet. (Avoiding it if I can.)0

Because of the design, I'm guessing water would sit at the bottom of that U bend pipe? Is that normal?

As its an intermittent fault I'd suspect the plastic pieces are blocking the drain pipe and the blockage clears when they move or you remove them. Keep checking the filter.Do the plastic pieces look similar to anything inside the machine?1

Water is getting back down the grey pipe from the washing machine when you drain the sink. The pipe needs re-routing so that it goes up before it goes back down to the washing machine. Try gently pulling the pipe through from the back of the cupboard and making it loop up to under the sink.Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.2
