It was very interesting, no one from Excel showed up but there was someone who stood in to 'represent' them although he basically said that looking at my evidence pack it was obvious there was no case.
I'm sure SRS will be delighted with his advocate's observations!
Haha, he did! Before we went in, he said he couldn't believe it ever got so far. He more or less recommended I speak to the judge to get my claim and even set that in motion when we spoke to the judge. I thought he was great but utterly confused that he didn't advocate for them at all!

So, the university are saying that they asked Excel to drop the court hearing, but the £100 charge for the PCN is still outstanding.

I'm a bit confused on whether, with a discontinuation notice, I actually 'won' in court. The judge was happy based on the evidence that this should be dropped and the other party said as we left that there should be nothing else.

The university are stating the refusal for renewal of a permit on their t&c's i.e. Persistent or considerable transgression may result in immediate withdrawal of the permit and/or issue of a PCN. If PCN’s are not acted upon, the permit and future rights to park may be removed.

Firstly, this was a single occurrence, I have never been given a PCN or even a warning before. Can they claim transgression? again, this relates back to whether I 'won' due to the fact I hadn't parked wrongly or whether I only won as they dropped the hearing. Is them dropping it considered admission of wrongly administering the PCN?

For information, I received a letter from court yesterday stating that
    1. The Judge has granted permission for the claimant to discontinue all of this claim
    2. The claimant do pay the Defendants costs ....

    Any advice gratefully received (again!)

Your PCN was appropriately "acted upon". You defended it in court, as is your right. You haven't breached that term and they can't force you to pay a null and void 'debt' that's been through court.

Complain higher and take it up with your Student Union and the NUS.  Seriously!

Thanks both. Regarding Grizebeck's comment about the court adjudicating on this matter; this is where I am confused. Have they adjudicated that that this matter is now finalised and no other action can be taken. Daft as it sounds, I now think it would have been easier / more concrete if I had defended my self in the hearing and the PCN to have been unfounded, but with the discontinuation, the university are making it sounds as if they were doing me a favour my removing the hearing and instead of the full amount, I now only have to pay the original fine

Which bit of that letter did/do the university not understand?  I hope one the courses they offer is not law!
