Hi OP
To be clear:
Did you give the bank and the cards dept your new details?
If you did, then it is their fault.
About compo, how much would you like ideally and why?

Op I assume you never use your card in any shops where they can also see who you bank with, your full name etc0

The OP has previous for not making sure all details are sorted out properly.
OP never assume one department/branch of a company talks or has a system that talks to other department.0 -

This feels like a data protection breach.
Does anyone know if there is anything under consumer rights around compensation for banks making mistakes like this?
There is a reasonable prospect that it would be seen as a data breach and as such you would be able to claim damages equal to the amount of money you've lost as a consequence of the breach. If thats £0 then thats how much you can claim though a bank is likely to give you £25 or such as basic compensation for a complaint assuming they accept they were at fault.2 -

I only noticed I had not been sent a new card when an Amazon flagged that a card was expiring. My bank clearly doesn't send out any emails to let me know and has a bug in their system with duplicating addresses. I could only see it was an old address for the debit card when I went to the lost/stolen card feature and when it confirms the address it had one from 2018.
I called and got it sorted, but no mention of compensation for sending a card with personal details to a random person. This card shows my full name, who I bank with, my account number. This feels like a data protection breach.

You should have updated your details when you moved. Not the banks fault.

Don't other banks do this?0 -
