force_ten1 said:has anybody ever been asked when trading in a car to a dealer "how many previous owners has the car had" ?
l have recently sold a car that was four years old and had just under 10,000 miles from new. the dealer paid me a very good price and they sold the car for a premium over cars of similar age and the new owner is the fourth owner
so the number of previous keepers had zero effect on the value of the car and did not stop the new owner from buying itMortgage free

"The car is a rangerover evoque 2016 with 65k on the clock."Brave choice. I wonder how many of the previous keepers rejected the vehicle.4

Anyway, the OP is asking about a seven-year-old car. I shouldn’t think 1 or 3 would have any effect on value.0 -
Return it. It's a Range Rover, chances are it's got some nasty faults and keeps getting rejected.0

Grey_Critic said:Possible the First Owner was actually the dealer - They are often registered as a demonstrator to meet sales targets that give the dealer a bonus. - the example quoted by force_ten1 above might well have been the case. There is also the problem of people buying and rejecting- not that anything is wrong simply the buyer decides they do not like it so rejecvt.
It does not matter who was or not was the "first owner."
The fact remains:
A brand new car = no previous owners
A pre-reg car = oe previous owner
Buying a brand new car and selling it, car becomes one previous owner
Buying a pre-reg car and selling it, car is one previous owner. The person that buys and sells this car, car sold as two previous
owners
It can get confusing, but if one is buying, it is easily cleared up if it is imprtant to you and it is to OP.

Wife recently purchased a car from Cinch. The car was advertised as having one previous owner but the log book has since arrived and it would appear the car has actually had three previous owners.
We have spoken to Cinch who have said the can give her a £100 as a goodwill gesture.
Just wondered how much 1 vs 3 previous owners would reduce the value of a car by?
The car is a rangerover evoque 2016 with 65k on the clock.
Thanks,

force_ten1 said:and how many people quote the number of previous keepers as shown on the V5 and don't add 1 to include the current keeper?
"1 previous owner" so the current owner is the second and the next purchaser will be the third owner.
"2 owners" and the next purchaser will be the third owner.
Two phrases with exactly the same meaning.2 -
More important to me is when the owners had the car, when was the last change of keeper? If it was recent then as mentioned already it could be because there is a fault present.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0
